After having a phone call to confirm our booking for 4 people, I was informed that we could not mix both the a la carte menu and the festive menu( I always thought that the paying customer decided what the wished to eat)
Service was paid
Painfully slow, considering* that the restaurant already had confirmation of our choices of food.
Food itself was not piping hot, but appeared to have been sitting under a heat lamp before being served.
Staff were at best average, with one waitress dropping desert cutlery on the table, rather than placing it to individual places.
Worst of all was the service charge added to our bill. When questioned, we were informed that this was normal practice, with no option of accepting or refusing said service charge. At nearly £20 of a service charge, to say we were shocked was an understatement. Having visited this restaurant/ bar on several occasions, we were very ,very disappointed.
On this visit, I can say that we were not the only unhappy customers.
With this visit in mind, I can only say, that it will be our last. Sorry, no calu3 for money at all

Please accept my further apologies that we did not deliver on the evening and you felt the service was poor. As we discussed on the evening the pre-order for the festive menu is a requirement as we do not offer this menu on a walk-in basis, and certainly allowing the option to mix the a la carte menu with the festive menu is certainly something we will consider for future festive seasons. The service charge which is discretionary is added to all bills upon presenting to the customer and should it be requested then absolutely there is no issue for this to be removed - we do advise customers on all our menus as well as on our website that we operate a discretionary charge policy.
Kindest Regards
