With food true to the land and served by real Truckee people, The Sawyer is the perfect name for the final, most awaited addition to Schaffer’s Mill

The Sawyer is centered around an amazing indoor and outdoor bar with views of Lookout Mountain and the golf course. The restaurant features a locally crafted all-day menu with selections of shareable, freshly-prepared salads, generous sandwiches, and delicious entrees.

    Hot cheesy bread was really cold. Cheese was not melted. They kept giving us prosciutto on our burrata plate even though we told them we are vegetarian twice.

    Sort of a "one off" for them tonight. Usually outstanding as we frequent this restaurant often. Salad was not well washed (sandy?) and the meat was a bit "chewy". Overall fine and we'll be back.

    The host was helpful, and tried to get us a spot at the bar as we were 30 minutes early. The bartender took too long to take our drink order that we got shuffled from the bar to our table without drinks. It then took a while for our waitress to acknowledge us. When she gave us the menus, she didn’t say hello when I said “hey there” my wife and I walked out.

    Valentines dinner fixed price entrées all looked delicious. Unfortunately the scallops were overpowered by the seasoning they used. But the prime rib was excellent along with the other courses.

    My wife ordered the Salmon which is a favorite with her but last night it was just to spicy. The restaurant did compensate us partially which i really appreciated. Daniel was the server and he was great and likely facilitated the partial credit. Sawyers remains a favorite.
