Hiraeth; a term unique to Wales and Welsh culture, an intangible pull on the heart that conveys a deep sense of belonging, the desire to return to the place of one’s birth, to come home. For The Shed Restaurant and Executive Chef Jonathan Woolway, our place in the world is happily Swansea.
Composed along the expanse of Swansea Bay, flanked by the Gower Peninsula and Brecon Beacons, within striking distance of the fertile valleys, coastal plains and farmland of West Wales, the Waterfront City of Swansea sits at the beating heart of nature’s larder. Bounties of the season from land, sea and pasture are at our fingertips.
Our daily changing menus reflect a constant creative evolution, making use of local produce at the very place and moment of their seasonal prime. This begins in the kitchen and is realised at the table; Egalitarian, convivial and accessible to all. Full in heart and generous of spirit.

Delicious Sunday dinner!!! I enjoyed the pork belly with stuffing and my husband had the beef!! Amazing gravy and roast potatoes!!! The lady that served us was so accommodating with our 3 year old granddaughter!! She is a fussy eater and she gave us lots of food options for her!! We cant wait to return!!! Xxx

Grace Dent, food critic, has visited here, so said my friend having read her review in the Guardian. Disappointed with our visit. Despite there being lots of covers, the chefs were working slowly. The service was very slow, the plates slightly warm, my fennel was overly charcoaled and cold, the sauce had too much heat which over powered the delicious skate. But the mussels were delicious. My friend had duck which looked and tasted good. I felt quite hungry afterwards not having had any carbs with my lunch. We won’t be going again.

Crab starter is excellent. Confit very good. Fish dish lacked green veg. A much better non alcohol list would be a winner - the wine list is great but not everyone drinks.

First visit to the Shed after reading glowing reviews in the Telegraph. Very enjoyable, nice atmosphere with a fair few tables occupied on a Wednesday evening. Excellent service, menu not too big but good choice. Food very tasty and high quality. Overall very satisfied and will definitely return.

Exceeded expectations! Saw mixed reviews so was a little apprehensive but the experience today was amazing. Had a lovely greeting from Hershey on arrival. She asked if we had been before and as we hadn’t, she explained the seating arrangements etc to us. Hershey gave great attentive service without being intrusive. Menu choices were great with some lovely specials. Taste, quality and presentation of food was outstanding. Could have done with a finger bowl to go with the braised rabbit. I’m looking forward to going back!! 😁

We had a beautiful meal, the food was first class and the service with the staff was friendly who gave us a lovely welcome, I highly recommend this restaurant.

A cut far above your usual Sunday lunch. Really tasty tender juicy lamb, fresh vegetables and a great big jug of delicious gravy to add according to your taste. The black pudding and cod cheek starters were both delicious and the olive oil parfait was ‘genius’. The spiced creme brûlée was the best brûlée I’ve eaten (and I’ve had quite a few! Will definitely come back to try an evening menu too. Thank you

Busy on Xmas eve but service exemplary. The festive menu was worth trying - the sharing pie was too much for two and probably a challenge for three people but the remains were boxed up for us to take home. Starters and desserts good, no delays in service and overall, yet again, well worth the visit
