With a name that’s not only an anagram of Haldens (where we’re located), The Sheldan Inn in Welwyn Garden City is in the midst of the community and is the perfect place to meet, drink and dine.

Our restaurant serves quality pub fayre, 7 days a week. For those looking for allergy friendly options, you’ll be pleased to discover that our entire menu is gluten free.

We have a competitive menu featuring many pub classics, with plenty of options for vegetarians and vegans too, all prepared on the premises in our clean, modern kitchen.

Many of our diners are unaware of the gluten-free nature of their nachos and battered fish - we’ve even been complimented on our bread! But for those gluten intolerants and coeliacs who usually feel like the ’odd one out’, particularly when dining in a group, The Sheldan Inn is here to restore equality!

    I choose this venue as I’m coeliac and on arrival spoke with table staff as well as the landlady regarding my allergy I placed an order for 3 courses and I wasn’t disappointed in any Everything came out piping hot well presented and most of all tasted good Dispute this COVID period time the venue has taken every step possible to still trade and serve the public with confidence and as rule when you sit and look around the venue is displaying signs to keep the neighbouring people happy and not tolerate any bad behaviour or illegal activity in there establishment from users I think the landlady who I spoke with is doing a great job

    Excellent experience. The staff are so friendly and the food was delicious. Felt Covid safe, clean and well prepared for our visit, felt reassured. So good I'm going again soon.

    The food here is just amazing! I am the fussiest person ever when it comes to steak it was cane out absolutely perfect Very clear covid guidelines and procedures in place but also didn’t feel intrusive or limiting which was nice Highly recommend The Sheldan, superb food at great prices

    Piping hot food, really tasty and extremely good value for money. We also enjoyed great service and a great vibe. We were particularly impressed with having our temperatures taken on arrival, then with the speed we saw tables - also chair backs - being completely cleared, cleaned and disinfected as soon as they became free. Well done #TeamSheldan.

    A lovely experience from start to finish. The highlight being able to take puddings home to eat in my PJs rather than feeling the need to over stuff in the pub after a big, delicious meal.
