From the receptionist, who was clearly didn't want to be at work judging from the amount of attention she gave us on entry and the dismissive point towards the waiting area, to the 40 minute wait before getting acknowledged to even get a drink prior to being seated, the service was terrible from the off.
Both of which might be understandable in a busy restaurant, however we were the first of 3 small tables all evening with a staffing of about 4 waiters...
Once we were sat we then opted to go straight for mains as we had had a bad impression, so wanted to eat and move on.
We then sat and ordered our meal. Admittedly there was a gluten free menu that had been altered which was kind, however the food then took an hour to arrive. The menu was reasonably limited, with a very small number of mains to choose from and even less starters, so putting the dishes together should of been easy.
We then went for the puddings as it had now got quite late due to the various waiting we had done during the evening, so would no longer be moving on, to be greated with puddings that were not only very small, but had a distinct look af something bought in.
All in all, it was a real shame as there was no saving factors for the evening.
What was worse is the 12.5% gratuity tip that is already on the bill and doesn't alter depended on your various discounts.
If you had to make a good impression to someone I would advise anything from buying a bag of chips from your local chippy would be a better suited venue for atmosphere, service, food and value for money.
I'm not saying it was terrible purely due to the staff being lazy on a quiet evening... But it was terrible.
Infact, just opposite is a restaurant called 'The Botonist' which has a superb menu, great atmosphere and really friendly staff. Try that out.
