Restaurant closes at 1am,-when making a booking please allow yourself as much time as possible to relax and enjoy your visit.
Outside area-closed at 12am ,which we recommend booking in advance. 
Situated in the coastal village of Muchalls, just off the A90, and 10 minutes from Aberdeen and Stonehaven,The restaurant derives its name from the sea stacks located on the beautiful surrounding coastline.

It is brought to you and led by head chef and owner Andy Smart, who’s aim is to offer a flexible and relaxed environment where everybody is welcome.
Dogs are also welcomed too.(we have treats and water bowls for them!)
Dining in a relaxed environment , the food style is seasonal and inventive and draws inspiration from international flavours, whilst using local suppliers, with an emphasis on simplicity, and where the staff are both friendly and professional.

                    We had the fixed cost menu which offered a varied selection of food at a great price. As a party we each had different dishes which all of us agreed were tasty and well prepared. Friendly and engaging staff. Highly recommend

                    Great little restaurant tucked away in Muchalls . Chose from the fixed price lunch menu . Any 2 courses for £22 which was excellent value for money . I had green Thai curry which was outstanding but hubby had the fish goujons which were a little soggy with not much taste . We both had a dessert . Sticky toffee pudding and the panna cotta . Both were delicious !! This is our 3rd visit and we’ll definitely be returning again . I would highly recommend visiting this little gem !

                    Wide choice of food, including varied fish options. All dishes well prepared, tasty and hot. Good selection of wines. Very helpful and friendly staff. We'll be back!

                    Dined mid-week - friendly efficient service, plenty options to choose from and we all thoroughly enjoyed our food. The set price menu was extremely good value too.

                    Can’t believe I’ve never been here before. Food was truly excellent for the price-point. Menu was extensive. Loved that local artwork was displayed for sale throughout the restaurant area. Very relaxed and cozy atmosphere.

                    Booked online and was told only bar area available whilst seated two people arrived and asked if there was a table free. They hadn’t booked. They were shown to restaurant and told yes of course. The phone at the bar rang incessantly and remained unanswered. The owner sat on his laptop so close to us we found it hard to have private conversation. The braised brisket and mash was very very salty. The veg looked great but it did not say on menu that these were pickled. Taste not to my taste. The sticky toffee pudding was undercooked. The rum and raisin ice cream tasted great but the raisins were frozen.

                    Good ambience - mixture of young, old, families and couples. Good service - 3 staff working the floor meant we were never waiting too long. Good food - 2 ‘teens’ and two adults meant we all tried something different from each other. Four clean plates at the end is always a good sign.

                    Another lovely meal at The Stack, myself and my partner both having a Halibut dish, lovely flavours and fish cooked to perfection. Great range of Gins at the bar.. Friendly bar service.

                    Omg the food was delicious. We went to The Stack restaurant and I cannot recommend it highly enough. We had a main and dessert and both were unbelievable, I can only assume the starters would be the same. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the Stonehaven area or to anyone visiting Dunnottar Castle as we were.

                    As usual, the welcome, food and service were superb. The Stack is a true gem in its field and deserves our full support. The village of Muchalls is also charmimg with a rocky shoreline quite breathtaking.
