The Standard. One of Hamilton's most revered restaurants, has laid down its roots on James St N. With our everchanging menu, seasonal & local inspiration and forward approach to dining, our commitment to excellence shows in everything we do. We strive to provide a memorable experience each day, it is just what we love to do.

From our in house butchery or cooking over charcoal, to working with local suppliers in our community We challenge the way we all think about Food & Drink.

If its a night out with friends, an intimate dinner for two, or just something extraordinary like sitting at our chefs table, We take each day as a new challenge to provide something amazing. It’s a bold statement and that’s why we make it with The Standard.

    The Chef's table is a 7-course, exclusive blind Tasting Menu, composed of the best of the season. These are ring side seats right in front of the Kitchen where you will get to see and experience the stress, pressure and rapid fire execution of how a fast-paced restaurant engine runs. This is not for the faint-hearted, your experience will give you a front row seat to how it all goes down. Strap in, it's going to be a hell of a ride. Elevate your experience with pairings from our reserve wine list or a mixology pairing form our bar team. Please note that we are unable to accommodate vegetarian, dairy/egg allergies, seafood allergies or aversions to raw meat/seafood. If there are any concerns, please reach out before booking a reservation.

    Join us for an exclusive, one night only event celebrating Bavarian brewing along side a unique & refined 5 course chefs tasting menu unlike anything you have seen before. Hosted as a collaboration between The Standard & Erdinger Weißbräu, Bavaria's largest Weissbier brewery whos brewing traditions date back 139 years to 1886. Enjoy an evening hosted by not only our Chef but also joining us will be Dirk Von Kries and a special appearance by Andreas Kahrs, both direct from the Erdinger Brewery in Bavaria who is making a special trip for the event . The event will not only consist of our 5 course tasting menu but will also include a welcome reception and all pairings for the evening. Menu can be viewed on our website - Proost!

    My wife and I went for the Chef's Table menu and it's accompanying wine pairing. Incredible experience for all the senses. It's rare that a restaurant can deliver so well on so many fronts.

    We had a wonderful experience for Valentine's Day. We would rate accessibility a 2/5 considering that my partner had a hard time accessing the stool with her injury, and the washrooms appear to be down a long flight of stairs. There is also no seating area to wait for your table. We had the pleasure of sitting at the bar where we received exceptional service, and we were enamored by the bartenders' skill. Would definitely recommend it!!

    Unimpressed by the experience that was set for Valentines. While there a number of options, for example the Picanha was delicious, it was an incredibly underwhelming experience. Our server was kind, although it seemed like a number of the staff were quite stressed and forgetful, likely due to the holiday. One disappointing note is that the menu had alterations to what was posted online. I assume this is due to limitations on the sourcing of ingredients. We were not inclined to the taste of the dessert and only had a few bites of the alternative to the creme brulee. The chocolate option was good. For an experience of this sort ($300, for two), it felt somewhat tasteless and bland. Other alternatives in the nearby area have a bit more spunk for a more affordable price (i.e. Berkley North, Rapscallion, Le Tambour, etc). I wouldn't recommend the Standard for their fare and will not be returning again. I would suggest it for drinks, as the atmosphere is lovely.

    Headed to the Standard to celebrate Valentine’s Day and they nailed it. The apps were fantastic, the mains were mouthwatering and dessert was perfect ending but we were so stuffed we couldn’t eat it all. Amanda C was our waitress and she was absolutely AMAZING, friendly, knowledgeable and so kind, what a gem. Thx for a great night, we will be back!

    It was a great setup. Very modern and transparent with kitchen are. Staff was on point!!! Clean bathrooms. Wait staff was well prepared!

    The mains were a bit cold and the waitress seemed a little short with us.. I have been before and it was good so maybe it was just an off day… focaccia, crème brûle and truffle fries were SO GOOD
