The Standard. One of Hamilton's most revered restaurants, has laid down its roots on James St N. With our everchanging menu, seasonal & local inspiration and forward approach to dining, our commitment to excellence shows in everything we do. We strive to provide a memorable experience each day, it is just what we love to do.

From our in house butchery or cooking over charcoal, to working with local suppliers in our community We challenge the way we all think about Food & Drink.

If its a night out with friends, an intimate dinner for two, or just something extraordinary like sitting at our chefs table, We take each day as a new challenge to provide something amazing. It’s a bold statement and that’s why we make it with The Standard.

    The Chef's table is a 7-course, exclusive blind Tasting Menu, composed of the best of the season. These are ring side seats right in front of the Kitchen where you will get to see and experience the stress, pressure and rapid fire execution of how a fast-paced restaurant engine runs. This is not for the faint-hearted, your experience will give you a front row seat to how it all goes down. Strap in, it's going to be a hell of a ride. Elevate your experience with pairings from our reserve wine list or a mixology pairing form our bar team. Please note that we are unable to accommodate vegetarian, dairy/egg allergies, seafood allergies or aversions to raw meat/seafood. If there are any concerns, please reach out before booking a reservation.

This day we are taking it a bit further. We are featuring Chef Matthew Cipollo's curated 5 course Chefs tasting menu, developed ad hoc, from shared plates to composed entrees. Finishing with our Pastry Chef's nod to the season. Each course is designed to challenge your heart and mind.     First time & definitely won't be the last. Everything was excellent which I haven't experienced in quite a while. Just wish the restaurant was in Burlington.

    Amanda was an excellent sever. It was the perfect choice for family visiting from out of town. Lovely atmosphere and food was great!

    Wagyu tartare is delicious, mussels were exceptional. Had the roasted pumpkin main which was quite dry, though the flavours were great. Service was perfect.

    We did the chefs table tonight and it was the best night ever. The food was absolutely amazing and sitting right by the open kitchen was fun. Our server, Ryan, was a standout. he was the best! he made our experience amazing. Great way to spend our anniversary.

    The server wouldn't accommodate a request to adjust the cooking level for someone who doesn't enjoy medium-rare food. It's quite disappointing. I understand it's a New Year's menu, but this kind of flexibility should still be offered. This reason alone is why we will not go back again.

    Great Great place! We went out for a double date and all enjoyed the food, ambience during the holidays. They had a featured bar and kitchen view from the seating. It was a cool spot in hamilton. The food was delicious, everything that came out was very well made. My fav was the oyster bar! But everyone else liked everything, like the calamari, dumplings, sourdough focaccia and steak!
