An award-winning village pub, The Swan sits at the heart of the picture-perfect village of Southrop. Part of Thyme, an historic Cotswold estate, the menus celebrate the ingredients and flavours of the farm and kitchen garden, as well as using ingredients carefully sourced from local suppliers.

Locally distinct brews, wines and non-alcoholic drinks lead to an interesting drinks menu, with wines available by the glass. Our seasonal table menu ensures a country pub feel which has a good choice of simple, rustic dishes as well as your pub classic dishes.

Just a short stroll from Thyme, The Swan sits at the heart of the village of Southrop adjacent to the green. The Swan is characterised by low-slung ceilings, roaring fires and a spacious garden room. The higgledy-piggledy wooden furniture combined with bright stripes and Bertioli fabrics make the perfect setting for cosy feasting and simple merry-making.

Join us from 6:30pm on Sunday 15th December, with Goose pie available 7:00pm. Before the quiz commences promptly at 7:30pm. The quiz will conclude around 9.30pm, but all are encouraged to stay a while longer for a night cap or two...

Having dined at The Swan multiple times this year, a distinct decline in standards has been noted. However, last night, 12th December, was a new low. The food was very poor, with one of two main courses (a "baked soufflé") inedible. This was drawn to the attention of the waitress, who essentially shrugged. When the bill was requested, further comments were made about the overall poor food standard but were totally ignored. Considering that the bill was 156.94 for 2 people, with one of the least expensive wines, this most certainly does not represent value for money. Sadly, as a Southrop resident, I will not be using this restaurant again.

The Swan was such a lovely surprise ! We walked into open fires private tables for intimate conversations, gentle music ,lovely smells and outstanding food, served with a smile and perfectly timed. Cant wait to go back ! Same table please ….. the Muscles with a brioche cream were totally original and absolutely delicious. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his Sunday lunch special… and a Yorkshire pudding that I would find impossible to replicate!!!

The Swan is a lovely setting. The Sunday lunch was really, really tasty, though it could have been warmer. Service got slower as the meal went on and we felt a bit chilly at times. BUT we have booked again for a few weeks time and the staff member has made a note that we’d like a warmer table (our eldest guest is 86!)

We had a great Sunday lunch at the Swan. Starters were excellent and the veggie roast (salt baked celeriac) was great. We had brought a homemade cake for a friend's birthday, and they kindly presented and sliced it for us. Excellent service, and lovely setting.
