The Sword Inn Hand is a 14th Century Free House with guest rooms nestled in the beautiful rural Hertfordshire village of Westmill, a mile south of the market town of Buntingford. With bar, dining room, mature landscaped gardens and charming country inspired guest rooms, it is the perfect countryside retreat for drinking, dining and relaxing. Seasonal produce is delivered to us daily by our fantastic local suppliers, and we pride ourselves on serving delicious fine food and traditional ales. Our friendly yet professional customer service and warm, relaxing atmosphere inspires our lovely customers to return week after week, and welcomes new visitors from far and wide. Owner, Jeremy Lee and his fantastic team look forward to making your visit a special one to remember.

    Ourselves and two other couples get together once a month for a meal at different restaurants and pubs. We chose the Sword in Hand as it has a good reputation for food, and isn’t far from where we live. The meal was exquisite, 4 of us having the “Christmas pie” and thoroughly enjoyed it. The other 2 had chicken schnitzel, and fish and chips, who also had no complaints. The service was impeccable, giving extra commendation to the younger staff who were very attentive, ensuring we were happy with the meals and drinks. I would definitely recommend a visit.

    Everything was fabulous as usual. Great roast (too much cauliflower cheese - we had one between 2 and couldn’t eat it all!)

    Probably one of the best roasts we have had in a long while. The food was perfect, great service and nice atmosphere. A real gem of a place - want to stay next time and enjoy the bar!

    Lovely pub and staff, good selection of food. We have eaten here many times before and it alway stays consistently good.
