The Well & Table is very popular and reservations needed far in advance.
We took a 5:30 reservation to get to the restaurant in a reasonable time period. We were on time and promptly seated: the dining area is not fancy at all. Chairs simple and comfortable.
The menu had some very interesting appetizers and entrees, featuring locally acquired fare.
Wife chose the beet salad. She described it as an arugula salad with beet shavings, and specifically said ‘if you’re going to name the dish after the ingredient, there should be a descent amount of it present.’ Tasted good, but got the execution, not a good value.
I chose the Filet Stroganoff: my mom made a good stroganoff and I figured the filet would greatly improve the lesser cut she used. The dish arrived as filet pieces in overly-Parmesan spaghetti; the menu described sour cream and wine ingredients which could not be found, at least not in any abundance. The filet was killed/grossly overcooked. I googled ‘noodles for stroganoff ‘ and every hit was a wide flat egg noodle, so my expectation was not out of line. I’m not into very cheesy sauces and specifically did not enjoy this dish. The waiter stopped by with the standard ‘how’s everything tasting?’ and I asked if this served dish matched what I ordered, just to make sure I didn’t get the wrong dish, and pointed out the sauce discrepancy, and he offered they would review the menu for future description updates.
The bill with 20% tip came to $170 for 3 people: stroganoff, dinner salad, and a burger (for non-epicurean son), which puts it into a fairly pricey category, and 2 out of 3 dishes were disappointing.
We would not return.
