   Another brief business meeting with my guest asking, "Can we go to the pub we went to last time - their soup was lovely?" Happily, I remembered where I had taken him! The soup did not disappoint.

   Whilst I have had lots of enjoyable lunchtime meals unfortunately our dinner yesterday evening was more than disappointing. The meal started well, the plates were completely clean after our starters. (All ordered from the regular menu) The two regular main menu items ordered were up to the usual expected standard. But the 3 dishes from the specials menu belonged in the bin. The venison, advertised as medium rare, was so over cooked and was dryer the biltong we had started the evening with! And the vegetables were limp and lifeless. The pork chop, hidden under the pickled onion, wasn’t much better, like the venison it seemed of been overcooked, cut into pieces and then overcooked some more. We didn’t send it back because we had already waited a long time and the restaurant was busy by that point and the children were hungry, so we ate around what we could manage. Just a shame because we were celebrating my husbands birthday. Our server was lovely and her manager who failed to come to the table herself did offer us free desserts but to add insult to injury, the fruit that garnished the two dishes was mouldy!

That's absolutely not the usual standard we hold ourselves to and undoubtedly we fell short on this occasion, especially as you were dining out for a special birthday.    Salute being a Sunday afternoon and th restraint being very busy. The service was prompt and polite and the food was excellent and hot I was a little disgruntled to be sat on the room with the tv showing rugby. I as not asked and I oils have preferred to be away from the tvs. But as there was not too much noise form those watching it did not impact our family lunch

   Over all very good, parking was a slight issue as we had a disabled person with us and the car park was full when we came out and was very difficult to get out with people trying to park in a full car park. Also we found it a little cold inside

   The food was great! Menu was very good and even at 7pm they had some roasts left! We had a lovely young waitress who was really attentive and did an excellent job making sure we enjoyed ourselves!

    Had a lovely family meal, arrived at 5pm to beat the rush. My 8yr had Sausage and mash with peas and gravy, with Ice cream to finish. Husband had a burger. The chips were generous and chunky, meat was tender and juicy. Sticky toffee pud was lovely. I had Half rack of ribs with chips. Cannot fault the ribs at all, meat came off the bone with ease. The chips were lovely, slight crispnon outside but fluffy inside. I had ice cream (2scoops). Service was quick, friendly and seemed effortless. Ambience was quiet chit chat, so relaxing and perfect for a family meal. Daughter wants to go back to try their sandwiches!
