Welcome to The White Hart, South Harting’s finest village pub located just a few minutes from the A3 near the historic town of Petersfield and a short drive from Chichester and Portsmouth.
Ever-popular with both locals, tourists and, of course, walkers tackling the iconic South Downs Way, the White Hart is the perfect stop-off and relax. The pub prides itself on offering a seasonal menu, including a children’s option, made with locally-sourced ingredients.

We stayed at The White Hart whilst on a walking trip of the South Downs. We got upgraded to an Elegant Room which was very comfortable and the perfect place to relax. Dinner was delicious - lots of choice and the pub itself is very cosy with excellent Christmas decorations

Usually a really good meal an experience. On this occasion the food came out just about warm enough to eat. I felt like I needed to eat in a hurry. To be fair I was offered the option of having the food reheated, but previous experience made me say No as you often end up waiting a long time, whilst your dining companions eat alone. Also a bit disappointed that every other table around us received a sealed envelope with a voucher at the end of their meal. We didn’t. Perhaps they didn’t like my feedback?

Lovely meal - well cooked served with charm and character. We really enjoyed our evening there and will definitely go again. I particularly enjoyed the seared scallops and my husband enjoyed the grain salad. Thank you

Charming inn with friendly and helpful staff. Well set up for sound Covid protection. Food was excellent.

The food was good, but the service was poor. After being seated for half an hour, we had to ask for menus. We also had to request dessert menus even though the restaurant was emptying by then. The staff were around, but not looking to see whether anyone needed anything. Considering the Covid restrictions, compared with other places we have eaten, the tables seemed very close together.

Definitely one for a visit. The burgers are amazing and so is the halibut. Staff are very accommodating and friendly.
