Afternoon tea is a beloved British tradition that has been enjoyed for centuries. It consists of a scone with clotted cream and jam and a variety of sweet and savory treats. The tea itself is an important part of the experience and is usually served in fine bone china teacups. You will find yourself transported to a bygone era of elegance and refinement. It's a wonderful way to spend an afternoon alone or with friends while creating lasting memories.

We have over 40 teapots to choose from here at The White House on Washington. From sterling silver to elegant ceramic to the whimsical and eclectic, find the teapot that calls to you to begin your experience. We have a lovely selection of teas for your choosing, including rotating specials influenced by season and holidays.

From the lovely venue and service to the superb selection of teas and treats, our Afternoon Tea was a delightful celebration to behold! The food was scrumptious (warm scones fresh out of the oven with delicious savory and sweet treats). The tea selections are exceptional and prepared individually in a beautiful self-chosen teapot...such a unique way to create a special experience for each participant! We will be back!

Not only was the food delicious, but the attention to detail was phenomenal. The food textures were good, the temperatures were good, the ambience was elegant but relaxed, and the music matched that perfectly.

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC afternoon tea! I'm married to a Brit and even he agreed this is the most authentic tea we've had in the Triangle and we've been to MANY. Can't say enough great things about Julia' who made everything from SCRATCH! They served 5 savories, 5 sweets and 2 rotating flavors of scones. Savories: sausage roll (homemade pastry was DIVINE), cheese phyllo puffs, spanakopita, pimento phyllo cups w pepper jelly and egg bites. Scones: plain and a london fog white chocolate chip - the texture was just like my Mother-In-Laws! Scones are tricky - they often are too dense or don't rise. These were the perfect texture! I used lemon curd and clotted cream w/ London Fog and raspberry jam and clotted cream w/ plain. The sweets were also incredible: french macarons, opera cake, lemon bars, madelines and a caramel custard praline tart. The tea was Harney in Sons in these gorgeous vintage mismatched teapots with a proper tea strainer. 3-min hour glasses on the table for a perfectly brewed pot. Sugar bowls with brown sugar cubes with little tongs. Highly recommend the Victorian London fog tea which had mild hints of bergamot with notes of lavender and vanilla and I am not even an Earl Grey person. We added prosecco to have it be a Tea Royale. Julia was also super accommodating for my daughters (7 & 8) and altered a few things to make it more kid friendly (they had hot cocoa). So worth the drive to Mebane for this experience not to mention the house and grounds itself are quaint and lovely. We will absolutely be back!

We had afternoon tea. Beautiful venue - apparently they started the Afternoon Tea service recently. You get to choose your own teapot to have your tea served in and they also have French press coffee. The food was delicious. we even had leftovers sweets. it was a very nice experience & we hope to come back soon

I cannot wait to visit again for Afternoon Tea. The room they host the tea time in is beautiful. A lot of natural light and white linen window treatments are very dreamy. The tea was some of the best Earl Grey I have ever had. The sweet and savory items were all very delicious, I needed seconds of the clotted cream. The atmosphere is like stepping into a movie scene, with the house being built in 1890 but many renovations completed to keep it updated and clean. The downtown Mebane area is minutes away and a fabulous place to peruse around many mom-and-pop shops. Such a fun time!
