Located inside a historic building on The Square in Swanage, a five minute walk from the pier, The White Swan has lots of traditional charm, the perfect setting to tuck into hearty home-style British cuisine in, paired with a pint or two, making it a favourite among locals as well as visitors to the area. Whether it's for lunch, dinner or a roast on a sunday, the menu has something to suit all tastes and occasions. We recommend beginning with some creamy garlic mushrooms served with a warm baguette, before moving on to the homemade steak & piddle pie or beer-battered haddock served with steak cut chips, garden peas and tartare sauce. To guarantee a table at The White Swan, booking in advance is recommended.

Been to Swanage many times but never to this pub. Ideal location, looks lovely from outside so knew exactly when I booked which pub I was booking (from the outside). On entry I got the feel of a local pub, the lady at the bar had no record of my booking although it was booked atleast 3 weeks prior to my visit. Told to sit anywhere in the eating area..... there was only about 5 tables, one other (3+baby) family and ours...… 7.30 peak season. Wasn't a great deal to choose from, menus a bit tatty (considering covid - I expected better)....neverless my husband went to order and bar staff well shall i say lack people skills/personality... not welcoming...ordered our 5 meals, within 25 mins they arrived with the exception of mine, complete missed off the order, even thou it was paid for, by the time it arrived my family had finished so I ate alone. Not ideal experience, young waiter did apologies but no comp eg glass of wine or discount for my wait. Overall not a good experience, food and service not great and pricey for what is, have had better in Swanage. Will not be re-visiting.
