This was my fourth time at Bell’s and each time in the past has bed. Great. Today, it felt like a different place. Nothing seemed to deliver. To start, the focaccia lacked flavor and was delivered with an abundance of olive oil. Wastage. We ordered the beef tartare which was painful to watch being assembled at the table by a young person who had not been taught how to show regard for the precious ingredients and wasted a lot of meat and condiments by leaving them stuck to the dishes and prep utensils. Sadly the flavour was also lacking! The tuna crudo was next and that too lacked flavour and tasted fishy- never a good thing with raw seafood. For mains , three in our group ordered various pastas and each was well cooked but lacked flavour. I ordered the roast cauliflower dish that was smaller than expected and the cauliflower was more steamed than roasted. Overall a below average dining experience . I don’t think we will be returning .

The risotto was delicious, but the desert very disappointing. The restaurant wasn’t full , but the service was unusually slow.

The Friday Plat du Jour remains outstanding value-as evidenced by the busy room every Friday. We thought the weekly single choice pasta might become a bit ho hum—but the chefs keep coming up with very tasty, flavourful options every week. The staff are friendly and efficient, the feeling is of eating in a private dining room-and the manicured garden view remains a unique feature on this, or any other. ‘Coast’ in Australia. We’re regulars!
