Compared to our visit to The Yard a year ago where we found the food to be lovely, service excellent and welcoming, last night’s effort was deeply disappointing. We were dumped at the table by a very brash woman who didn’t offer to give us menus, she just directed us toward the QR code and walked away. QR codes are great if everyone knows the menu and wants to go Dutch, but we were buying the dinner as a treat for our kids and we were just left with a hollow feeling and very nearly walked out. The vegetarian selections have shrunk from being high quality, creative food to just basics of corn riblets (tasty by overcooked), loaded fries, a smattering of avocado on a large bowl of chips where you have to pay $5 for a small amount of cheese and $4 for some chopped tomato and onion (just chopped and thrown, no mingling of flavours as a true pick de gallo should have). And the pumpkin tacos were overcooked overly salted fingers of slightly too dry pumpkin that resembled 5 hour old turds at the dog park. The margaritas tasted like they were made on bottled lemon juice.
Basically the great experience we were hoping for was ruined by lazy disengaged service, a moneymaking attitude with complete lack of generosity from management ($5 for a pinch of cheese is just ridiculous) and not great quality food. We were prepared to spend $400 but places that deserve that kind of money try a lot harder.
We’ll go somewhere that cares about the diners next time.

Our goal is to streamline ordering and reduce paper waste, but physical menus are available & were provided to your table. We sorry our vegetarian options didn’t meet you’re your expectations. We aim to offer a variety of options to suit different dietary preferences, with half our offering being either vegetarian or easily adaptable. We will review these items for improvement. Regarding margaritas and extras, we value fair pricing and will reassess portions. We do encourage guests to share concerns during their visit so we can address them promptly at the time.
