Four Strangers Walk Into A Bar...

30 years ago, four people working in the hospitality industry met in a bar on Toulouse Street in The French Quarter of New Orleans. Over time they became friends and when the first one moved away he stated, "our paths will cross again." Sure enough, over the next three decades, we worked together and apart in cities across the United States, including New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Telluride, Washington DC and of course The Big Easy. In early 2021 an opportunity presented itself and Toulouse was born.

Using local, sustainable ingredients, we produce food with a hint of New Orleans style, in the type of place where tourists feel at home, locals are at home, and everyone is surrounded by family and friends.

    We had an outstanding meal at Toulouse. The staff was great, and let our two dogs join us at a corner table. The shrimp and grits was spectacular, as were the Brussels sprouts, and shrimp salad. We highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to visiting it again.

    We had a tasty breakfast with mimosa’s. The waiter was awesome and checked regularly. The atmosphere was nice and the weather was great with outdoor seating.

    I had so many recommendations for restaurants in Lake Tahoe upon getting here. Toulouse was right up the street from where we were staying and it wasn’t even on my list. We decided to give it a try, and boy I’m glad we did! The food here was exceptional. Compared to expensive dinners we paid for the nights previously, this food was even more delicious and reasonably priced! We had a wonderful bartender Alex, who really took care of us!

    Hardly anyone in the restaurant at the time of our reservation, we decided to go there before a concert. We waited forever for our food while the couple of families that were seated the same time as us got their appetizers and main courses well berfore us. When our food finally arrived mine was cold (and wrong) and my husband's fresh out of the fryer, guess whose food they forgot to make. They did give us a "little" discount for having to wait...ok thank you but they made us late for the start of the concert.

    Server, Valentina, was spot on with food recommendations. Started with the Sausage and Crawfish Poutine. Her description of the spiciness was accurate. We followed with the Crispy Brussel Sprout bites with bacon bits and a cranberry aioli which complimented the sprouts perfectly. We split the Shrimp & Grits with the recommended Andouille sausage for a perfectly balanced (not too stuffed) meal. Topped it by sharing the pistachio cheese cake without a morsal left on the plate. We enjoyed the pleasant quiet evening on the deck so didn't get a feel for the dining area. The bartender made a delicious gin martini, as well as a specialty paper plane and an old fashioned. There were so many things we wanted to try on the menu. We will definitely go back when we are in the area.
