We went for my father’s 80th birthday and everything went as planned with the exception of the confetti (couldn’t use the poppers due to the cleaning mess). Regardless, the pastry chef made a birthday cake that I ordered via the hotel front desk that was super delicious (vanilla with some almond and/or amaretto) since I was traveling to Puerto Rico. My parents went to TROVA every morning for breakfast during our stay at the Wyndham Palmas Beach and Golf Boutique Resort in Humacao and they loved it. My last day I went to TROVA and ordered the AVOCADO TOAST (house-made mineral enriched focaccia, fresh sliced avocado, lime, cilantro, pomegranate seed, breakfast radish, and sunny side up egg) which was great as well. We also had lunch in the restaurant at the pool side and the appetizers (i.e. Crispy Breaded Manchego Cheese Sticks, etc.) and lunch items (i.e. TROVA BURGER, SUNFLOWER PIZZA, etc.) were very good as well.
For dinner on 2/15/25, I ordered as an appetizer the LOCAL YUCA FRIES, preserved lemon emulsion. My parents and I then ordered the same dish, CHAR-GRILLED OCTOPUS, which was super tender with an amazing flavor and combination of aji panca, smoky plantain purée, spanish chorizo lime broccolini, and cilantro. I also ordered a cocktail, the FORTUNE TELLER (gin, simple, fresh lime bitters, cucumber & mint) which was light and refreshing. My sibling ordered the GRILLED MANGO SALAD (mango, butter lettuce, sesame seed vinaigrette, radish candied pecans, heirloom tomatoes & pickled onions) with grilled chicken and it looked pretty good.
Overall, the restaurant is pretty well-rounded with the local cuisine at a higher level. The staff are all very nice and accommodating. I recommend this place for any occasion.
