Visited this much-praised spot, expecting a top-tier dining experience & left feeling underwhelmed. For a place that prides itself on a gourmet experience with an expensive menu, & while the live piano music set a lovely ambiance and the service was attentive, the food fell far short of expectations.
The Lobster Appetizer
Let's start with the lobster appetizer. The lobster itself was cooked well—tender & sweet—it was disappointingly small, especially given the hefty price tag. This was not the generous portion one might expect from an upscale eatery. To make matters worse, the accompanying sauce was bland & unimaginative, lacking the depth and complexity that should elevate a dish like this. It felt more like a generic supermarket dip rather than a crafted, gourmet pairing.
The Branzino
The Branzino was frankly, tasteless, had no discernible seasoning, leaving it bland & unmemorable. The sauce was thin & watery, as if it hadn't been reduced properly. It was supposed to be the highlight of the dish, but instead, it lacked flavor & did nothing to enhance the fish. A real disappointment considering the price & the supposed reputation of the kitchen
The Salmon
The salmon was another letdown. The menu promised a beautifully presented "herb-crusted salmon with heirloom bean ragù," but what arrived was a far cry from the description. The herb crust was non-existent, and the heirloom bean ragù was missing entirely. When I asked the server about this, I was told they were out of ingredients. A simple heads-up before ordering would have been appreciated, especially since this dish was one of the highlights pictured on their website.
Pomme Purée
I was expecting a rich, velvety mashed potato dish, perhaps with some sort of crispy topping for texture—maybe panko crumbs, shallots, or even some parmesan. Instead, what I got was a bland, basic mashed potato that tasted like it was made from the cheapest potatoes they could find
