The Union Oyster House, located on the Freedom Trail, near Faneuil Hall, enjoys the unique distinction of being America's oldest restaurant. This Boston fixture, housed in a building dating back to Pre-Revolutionary days, started serving food in 1826 and has continued ever since with the stalls and oyster bar, where Daniel Webster was a constant customer, in their original positions.

Parcel #7 Garage: Not clearly labeled (sorry). If the Union Oyster House is on your right, the brick building STRAIGHT AHEAD OF YOU is the garage. Drive towards it, make a quick left (Hanover St.) right (Congress St.) and right again (Sudbury St.) The fee after validation is 3.$ for 3 hours
Public transit
Two options: Take the Blue or Green Line to Government Center. Walk down the stairs along the side of City Hall and cross Congress Street. We are across the street. Note we are across from the New England Holocaust Memorial. Or, take the Orange or Green Line to Haymarket,left on Congress,left on Hanover,right on Union.

Great time! Had to ask for corn bread twice but finally got it! Fish chowder and mashed potatoes were not hot, rather luke warm to cold. But delicious nonetheless. Third visit and we will be back since we live local.

Our server Kade was absolutely wonderful. Patient, super engaging, let us take as long as we wanted at our table, since they weren't crazy busy, & we were celebrating a birthday. I had made a special request for a bday candle either in something savory, or a bottle of wine, and they went above & beyond. Followed my request to a tee, plus brought it out with a crew of Happy Birthday singers, & a lit candle in a little mountain of whipped cream. Just the most charming & thoughtful delivery you could ask for. So awesome! Chowder was yummy, & the mixed green salad was wonderful. I was a little under the weather, & chicken noodle soup happened to be their soup of the day, so I was thrilled. Wonderful, old school establishment, run with perfect hospitality. Thank you! we'll be back.

They were out of pork, chicken, steak and anything fried. The food was mediocre and over priced. They use the history of the building as a tourist trap. Would be a better museum than a restaurant. Our server was excellent. Some old grumpy guy wouldn’t let us browse the gift shop even though the restaurant was still open. Wish I spent my money elsewhere
