The Union Oyster House, located on the Freedom Trail, near Faneuil Hall, enjoys the unique distinction of being America's oldest restaurant. This Boston fixture, housed in a building dating back to Pre-Revolutionary days, started serving food in 1826 and has continued ever since with the stalls and oyster bar, where Daniel Webster was a constant customer, in their original positions.

Public transit
Two options: Take the Blue or Green Line to Government Center. Walk down the stairs along the side of City Hall and cross Congress Street. We are across the street. Note we are across from the New England Holocaust Memorial. Or, take the Orange or Green Line to Haymarket,left on Congress,left on Hanover,right on Union.

Food were only lukewarm. The worse lobster roll I ever had in Boston. Beer is not cold. Way over priced for small portion plates. Will not come back ever again.

Boiled lobster arrived cold, mashed potatoes were bland. Service was not attentive. Historic spot I used to come to every visit to the city but this was the last time I’d eat here.

Our server was terrible, so that pretty much ruined the whole experience. We ordered clam chowder which was thick and had good flavor, lobster ravioli (app) and baked clams. We came more so for the experience of history, than the food. Our server was so rude to the table next to us that it made me terribly uncomfortable and we had to get out of there FAST! Food was decent, service was awful.

Fun all around. Food was good and server was so sweet and helpful. Enjoyed the whole experience. Have a hearing impaired child and it was not too loud which was appreciated

If you love history and seafood, this is your spot. Reasonably priced, delicious food in a historical setting. It obviously attracts a lot of tourists, but the staff did not seem annoyed and were helpful and friendly with suggestions pertaining to the menu and to also local places to visit. Would def come back!

We really enjoyed eating at the Union Oyster House. The lobster Mac and cheese and fried shrimp with mashed potatoes was fantastic! Mussels in the white wine sauce was our favorite!
