Our magical conservatory restaurant is set amid Updown’s rambling grounds. Dine under the grape vines surrounded by beautiful 17th century brick and watch the chefs in the open kitchen tending to the wood fired grill and original farm house bread oven. The restaurant has been completely transformed by owners Ruth and Oli to be heated and fully enclosed and is open year round.

Menus will be small, hyper seasonal and use the best of local and European produce and change on regular basis to reflect what’s best. Everything is cooked over wood in the open kitchen. There is a short list of exciting wines of limited availability, local beers and seasonal cocktails.

On Wednesday nights in place of our à la carte we cook a Steak Night menu , priced at £30 per person for 3 courses. On Sunday nights the restaurant is closed but we serve a light supper for hotel guests in the Farmhouse.

Updown has several beautiful spaces in which to host your private event. We have a beautiful conservatory Private Dining Room overlooking the farmhouse lawn. It is perfect for groups of 4 to 14 for a seated meal, or up to 20 for a drinks party. The main restaurant can accommodate up to 50 sitting or 150 standing and is ideal for a larger party.

As tempting as it is to save our pennies for a Christmas blow out, the freezing temperatures makes us want one thing: a treat. And in our minds, the only treat we want mid-Winter is to be cooked for, cared for and sent home a little bit happier than when we left the house. So, we're offering a £40 set menu every Thursday dinner, Friday dinner and Saturday lunch, every week 'til the end of January. We can always offer a vegan or vegetarian option if you let us know when you book. Wanted somwhere that felt different with really good food for a special occasion and Updown was perfect... even though we had a veggie, a vegan and a gluten free in our group. We had a really wonderful time

fabulous evening, once again. The food was delicious (the sharing lamb chops were cooked to absolute perfection), friendly service and good accompanying wine. The restaurant was quite chilly though so dress appropriately! Thank you - we will definitely be back, and back, and back........

Fantastic food, service and ambience. Beautiful tree outside and interior decoration fab. A lovely experience making it very special going into the orange room for a drink beforehand.

Trying hard. Restaurant isn’t really set for a cold windy winters day and the lounge could do with the fireplaces being lit. Food is lovely but the fish was awash with olive oil. Very much a work in progress.

Had the Sunday roast, everything from food to service to even the magician was excellent will definitely be going back looking forward to trying the steak night in a Wednesday

Beautiful location, very pretty restaurant setting. Unfortunately for me, the main courses today were not really to my liking. I was hoping for traditional roast choices but there was only pork or duck. I don't eat roast pork & don't consider duck as a Sunday lunch option. There was also beef but to share between 2-3, whilst we were three, one of our party was a pescatarian so not an option. I'm sure if I liked the menu I would have enjoyed this occasion much more. I'd go again but check in advance that the menu I saw was the most current. Shame. The food is good quality. House wine decent.
