The Vallum Restaurant & Chef’s Room team is dedicated to wonderful local produce sourced from the producers on our own site and from artisans within Vallum’s postcode, building our name on our use of robust, local produce in heart-warming dishes.

Our Head Chef works hand in hand with on-site producers including the Vallum Bakery, Vallum Kitchen Garden, and Vallum’s Little Dairy which makes wonderful ice cream in the summer and cheese in the winter.
The new Chef’s Room is available for casual dining or to hire for private events, weddings and tasting menus and our front-of-house team look forward to welcoming you.

Coming soon: a great selection of frozen ready meals made in our Vallum kitchen. From vegetarian Cauliflower Dahl to Roast Beef Lunch, we will have a range of delicious dishes which you can take home and enjoy at your leisure. We take great pride in using fresh, local ingredients.

A return visit after an invigorating frosty walk. We were not disappointed. The four of us agreed that Sunday lunch was one of the best we have had. The atmosphere was lovely and the informed service was the right balance of friendly yet professional.

Good food, however paying restaurant prices can be noisy in main room, due to metal roof n wooden floor. Attentive pleasant staff, drinks reasonably priced

Booked table but when we arrived they had ran out of quite a lot of the menu. Told that it was due to walk ins. Only had Beef, fish and chips or veggie option. Same issue with starters and desserts. It's a bit out, so it's not like you can just pop elsewhere. To be fair the beef was nice, but it's about the only plus. Asked for bill 4 times and then waited to pay we just got up. It's not a cheap meal either, so you expect more for your money and I'd suggest if wanting to go then don't reserve. I wanted earlier but was told on site it was fully booked. Bit of a bad day out with friends, so I wouldnt travel out for the risk and price. Plenty nice places willing to take less money.

A lovely setting for a great Sunday lunch - locally sourced food and ales. All of us thoroughly enjoyed the food and the waiting staff were friendly and attentive. Will certainly be back the next time we're in the area.

Nick and his team were brilliant as always. I took my friend for her 84th birthday and we couldn't have asked for more. My friend usually has a tiny appetite, but she finished every morsel on the plate, it was so delicious. Nick organised a birthday cake which was delightful and my friend went home a very happy lady! It doesn't matter how many times I visit Vallum, the standard is always maintained and the food wonderful!

Food quality excellent, veg a bit different from the usual and meat very tasty n just how we like it very tender. However sticky toffee pud best ever and we have had a few !! Only negative was restaurant very noisy maybe due to metal roof n wood floor with nothing to absorb the sound . We did have to wait a while which was worth it, however children may not be as patient.

Lovely food, friendly staff. However, very noisy so hard for my dad to hear my conversation. Musk is totally unnecessary when you want to talk to friends

The usual high standards We went for Sunday lunch which is now the only time that Vallum restaurant is open, much to our great disappointment. We have been regular visitors for many years and keep coming back for more! We were warmly greeted by Nick and his team who always provide prompt and courteous service. The food was of the usual excellent standard with notable items being the pork crackling, roast potatoes, Yorkshire puds and Eton Mess for dessert. We cannot recommend the restaurant highly enough.
