We love our time usually at Van Acres and we’re very excited to take our 25 year old and 10 year old children to eat inside the igloos. We had a later reservation for 8:30pm and got there 30 minutes early. We sat at the bar and got drinks until our time to eat outside in the igloos. We we there at 7:55pm and no one else was in the igloos at the 6:30pm time (we found out from the server), but we were not seated until almost 8:40 to our igloo by the bartender. As soon as we got into the igloo, the server came in and from the very instant we felt rushed. She reminded us we only had until 10pm instantly (we know the rules, as we have been in the igloos before), and rushed us to order apps and within 5-10 minutes after that told us we needed to order asap because the kitchen closes at 9. She came into the igloo so often that we never did get a chance to relax. We weren’t acting like we would be going over the time. We were just trying to relax the whole time and let our children enjoy their experience inside the igloo. I felt like I had to constantly watch the clock, as every time she came in it was another “so many minutes left” or rushing us. The food and drinks were great. But we were very disappointed in the constant reminders from our server. And we waited all winter for this. The first thing a waiter shoulder never say to someone who reserved a special time and deposited money for it is “ok you have this much time to be done”. We left the igloo at 9:59-10:01pm, feeling disappointed and unfulfilled in our experience.
