Peter and Diane Hall & Chef Derek of Van Rensselaer's proudly continue to serve the freshest locally caught seafood, superbly prepared meats wonderful poultry, and a wide variety of salads, in addition to great homemade sauces, and desserts
Desserts are homemade and Chef Derek was written up for being a top Hawaiian Baking Chef in Hawaii for his Bread Pudding.
We have two small patios, open air with heaters and umbrellas as needed, An eight table screened in awning covered porch as our outside areas.
Our inside tables are well spaced, with black linen table clothes. Staff is noted for its professionalism and friendliness. We welcome you to Van Rensselaer's.

We are proud to say we are Level 1 Green certified! Check out our newly renovated bar for dinner or just a drink.

    Van Rensselaers checks all the 5-Star boxes. Great food to please everyone’s tastes (pun intended!). Last night the place was hopping, the last Saturday before closing. And yet they still had their full menu offerings. Their seafood is exemplary. During the various seasons they have bluefish and striped bass. ALL prepared perfectly. Looking forward to their April reopening!

    Living in an area that restaurant's mostly focus on seafood it is refreshing that there are items on the menu that can appeal to a customer other than seafood. It is not often that you see roasted duck on the menu prepared crispy with a delicious dipping sauce. Nice change up.

    Had to go one more time before they close for the season. As usual the food and service was fantastic miss them already. See you in the spring.

    Friendly service, we had potato crusted salmon (outstanding) & mixed grill special also outstanding but overpriced. Didn't know until got the bill.

    Great food, terrific waitress seated us right on time couldn’t ask for more always a wonderful experience. We will miss this restaurant until it opens again in the spring.

    Service was excellent. I try not to hog a table understanding that both the restaurant and the server wants to turn it at least a couple of times a night. We met friends who we have not seen for many years and spent much more time than we would under normal circumstances. Our server was extremely accommodating (we did leave a nice tip and she more than deserved it) and our food was excellent. We have lived on the Cape for years and find many of the restaurants significantly lacking in food quality. I highly recommend Van Rensselaer’s. They are open until Oct 27th this year and then close for the season…I am sorry it took us this long to find this great place. Great restaurant, great food, excellent service. We will be back!
