I rarely post about my restaurant experiences; but not commenting here would be a disservice to prospective patrons. This restaurant experience may have been the worst I have ever had; and I have tried hundreds of restaurants in various countries throughout the world. My friend and I arrived early for a 9pm reservation. We intentionally ordered as soon as possible, acknowledging the late hour and service tends to move a bit more slowly in the Caribbean. Our appetizers arrived after almost an hour wait, and after asking the server to check numerous times. The taste was nothing special/nothing terrible. While we were waiting for the appetizers, we asked if we could have some chips with salsa, just to have something on the table while we waited. One server said that she did not know what chips are. Another said that we can only have chips with cheese. We answered that was fine. But nothing ever came. When the appetizers were finally served, we asked that they start preparing the entrees and that they could bring them whenever they were ready, even if we were still eating the appetizers. After another full hour, we noticed the restaurant was starting to empty out. One of the servers finally came to our table and told us that they (both servers) forgot to tell the kitchen to prepare the entrees. Trying to be understanding, we said that mistakes happen, but that they should bring the entrees now. The server returned and said that the kitchen was closed. We asked to speak to the manager. The manager was unapologetic and not embarrassed at all. In fact he gave us the bill for what we had ordered and been served and told us that we needed to pay it. No apology, no remorse, no nothing. I still left a partial tip for the server and I heard her curse us as we walked out. Bewildered and giving it some thought, I still cannot determine if this experience was a result of complete incompetence and/or a passive aggressive disdain for mainlanders. Likely a bit of both.
