The interior is fabulous but the service is so strange that it’s borderline rude. There were about 6 people at the door who seemed to be very confused by the fact that we had a booking. First a hostess said there’s a private event. Then when I mentioned a booking, the doorman asked to see it - and looked at it as if he had had no idea their bar was listed at Opentable. Then one of the hostesses said they actually do not take bookings for bar tables. I said - fine, we’d love to eat. Oh but they don’t serve food, only bar snacks. we were 1 second apart from turning around and going to another bar when finally someone who seemed to be the manager came out, apologised and invited us in.
Inside a waiter took us to a booth-type table large enough for at least 6 people (our booking was for 3). smaller tables nearby in the library room were available. Once the first order was taken, a waitress approached us and asked if we could move to a different table (one the library ones) “because someone booked that large table and requested that one specifically”. Fine, we agreed to move to another table but we could still see the large one - in the next 3hours no one showed up for that ‘specific table booking’. Everyone in our group was dressed appropriately in smart casual.
it looks like the booking process is messy and the personnel barely knows how to manage it, all giving contradicting information. Annoying.
