I made. Reservation for 4 for a Saturday night. We were double dating with good friends.
When we arrived we were seated right away and given our choice of outdoor by the entrance (near a courtyard) or lounge outdoor. We chose the lounge outdoor which has a view of the ocean (kind of). There were heat lamps and blankets since it was in the 50’s around 7 pm which were greatly appreciated. (That might not be cold for east coast visitors but for local San Diegans, that’s a tad chilly.
We had the good fortune of sitting in Max’s section. If you want an awesome server who grew up in the restaurant industry and knows his stuff and his wines, then ask to be seated in Max’s section.
We ordered a few appetizers including the kale salad which was awesome (the best any of us have ever had) plus the whipped ricotta, and some other peanut sauce dish.
They were all amazing!!! They gave us extra bread upon request.
We brought our own wines and corkage was $25/bottle which was to be expected.
Our entrees included the steak, the lamb chops (you only get 2 and they’re quite small), the pork chop (generous cut and cooked via sous vide), and the barramundi (fish). All were cooked perfectly though my husband was disappointed that the lamb chops entree was small.
Our server brought us a complimentary toffee pudding which we shared. Likely because we were racking up a decent sized bill.
The pudding was seriously mind blowing! Sooo good. Order it!
Lastly we had some after dinner cordials to finish out the evening.
Our bill came to about $360 for the four of us but this included the 3 appetizers, the 4 entrees, 3 martinis, a sambuca, a carajillo, and corkage for 3 bottles ($75 total).
All in all, not bad considering how much food and drink we had. Oh, and did I mention that Mitt Romney was dining there at the same time?
Definitely go but make a reservation on Open Table. The restaurant was packed. Great food and service!. Waverly has a great vibe.
