This beautiful Grade II listed 17th Century Inn is nestled in the Dorset countryside on the edge of the picturesque, historical village of Bishops Caundle. We are located on the A3030- between Sherborne and Sturminster Newton. We are in the Good Pub Guide and aim for the highest standards of eating, drinking and customer service. First time visit. We arrived early (19:00) so not too late with not many people in the restaurant area. Nice bar/restaurant. Good food, good portions. Friendly staff and very helpful. Bit disappointed that one of the specials on the menu was not available even at an early evening sitting.

Booked for dinner with 2 friends. Service and food was pretty good, although unfortunately the veggy special was unavailable. The chef however produced a special mushroom pasta that satisfied our vegetarian friend.

service was very slow yet no explanation was given. people who arrived after us also got their food first. No compensation was given of offered for the delay taken from ordering to eating

Very much enjoyed our lunch ...beautifully served...extremely scummy and very pleasant helpful staff..easy parking and close to where we now live so ideal..easy to book online and they were expecting us ..very professional

Always wise to book as they get very busy. Great, friendly service and they don't bother you if you want to linger. I asked for quiet space as my dinner companion doesn't hear well and they paid attention and found us a recessed booth which worked well. I also go there often by myself and feel very comfortable.

Took three very hungry boys for Sunday lunch from a nearby school. They left raving about the food. No need to say more. Attentive staff , dog friendly but limited choice of beers . Who doesn't stock any IPA?

We held our small business networking group's annual lunch at the White Hart. There was off-street parking. We were given a comfortable, convenient table. The decor was beautiful and reflects a modernised version of a traditional pub. The food was solid, high quality pub fare, with a few gastro twists, prepared well. The biggest treat, however, was the menu for "smaller appetites", which was unbelievably good value for generous portions. I expected to spend twice as much money for my lunch. I highly recommend the experience for anyone who wants good food, with some refinement, in a very pleasant atmosphere at low cost.
