Seated in the grandeur of Peacock Alley, amongst the elegant sounds of the harp, Willard's traditional Afternoon Tea offers a tempting array of savory sandwiches, decadent pastries, and teas.

Afternoon Tea at Willard InterContinental Washington, D.C. takes place on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with two seatings available at 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Afternoon Tea makes for an elegant way to celebrate a special occasion. Contact willardtea@ihg.com for more information for groups of ten and more.

Best tea in DC...this time with an inaugural flair...the Willard was decorated for the parade and many folks were gathering for pre-inaugural events...tea itself was fabulous... wonderful tea, tasty champagne and we needed a to go box for all the savory and sweet treats

Great ambiance! However, two key aspects fell flat- our tea selections (spiced chai and Darjeeling) were in tea bags instead of loose leaf, and the Devonshire/clotted cream was actually just heavily whipped cream. Not things most people would care about or even notice, but essential to a good tea service. Shoutout for having Jörg Geiger zero proof options though. Sommelier knows ball.

I had been looking forward to this reservation for months and was so disappointed with the food, both portions and quality. The price is clearly for the location. The space was beautiful, however it is quite literally a hallway connecting the main entrance to the back entrance. There was a constant flow of people wandering through. The savory plate was a selection of the tiniest bites I have ever been offered at an afternoon tea. I would be ok with this if they tasted amazing, but each bite was more underwhelming than the one before. Only a few of the dessert bites were enjoyable, meaning that they were edible enough to finish, but nothing impressive enough to be memorable. One offering was completely flavorless and another tasted of artificial flavorings. The scones were huge in comparison to the rest of the offerings, the plain scone being the only redeeming part of the experience. With the seating being at 1pm this replaced lunch, but it was not substantial enough to satiate you for the afternoon. I even chose the Willard Signature Blend tea believing it would be unique, yet it was more unimpressive than the food. If you are a foodie, I would caution you to spend your money elsewhere. This was an experience absolutely not worth the price and the most disappointing dining experience I have had in D.C.

Host team and greeting nice. Old tea service needs maintenance. The tea savories and pastries were not impressive in size or flavor. Massive scones try to hide a sad display otherwise. The menu items are not as good as Four Seasons, Waldorf Astoria or Ritz offers (in that order). Server was terrible which is surprising since tea is very simple. Waited twenty mins for the server to stop at the table, another thirty minutes for bottled water. Back servers were good in greeting and offering the initial ice water. No special additions were presented, we were interested in caviar and a different champagne. May have just been our server, neighboring tables had delays as well. Harpist was lovely when not trying to sing Celine Dion’s songs.

We are a little late to our reservation but they already had our table set up and ready! This was my nieces first afternoon tea and she had a great experience! Everything they gave us was fresh and delicious and I would definitely do it again!

I had a very lovely afternoon tea experience. I would rate all of the food five stars except for the savory bites. They were all a little on the dry side and could’ve been more flavorful. The scones and the sweets were perfect.

Peacock Alley is beautiful. The hosts are mildly friendly. The servers seem disorganized and really focused on pushing you out for the next seating. It is done without finesse. The tea is nothing special. They skimp on the tea so adding cream to the black teas does not create an authentic UK taste. It tastes watery because the tea is so weak. Adding more water to not enough tea makes it worse. They charge for apple cider. Really? If I had known that I wold have gotten the champagne which was only a few dollars more. Overall the tea sandwiches were tiny and just okay. The scones and accompaniments were good. The sweets were flavorful. Simply put it is overprices for what you get when you compare to the Ritz in London or Raffles in Singapore. The atmosphere is great though.
