- About Izakaya Japas & Sake -

The laidback ambience of Izakaya Japas & Sake combines the merriment of a pub with Japas (tapas-style small plates) and freshly handmade sushi. The vibrant Victorian-style building is located at the heart of George’s Street. It offers a cultural escape through authentic oriental wall décor, an extensive choice of sake, Japanese liquor and banging cocktails. Seasonal and all-time delicious favourites, such as tempuras, duck pancakes, and Omakase, are bursting with flavours and leave your mouth watering for more. Funky tunes during evenings, a fun atmosphere and charismatic staff will make your visit memorable.

Food was divine! So we’re the cocktails. Celebrated my husbands birthday and they brought out icecream to sing happy birthday. Nice touch. Staff were extremely friendly. Ebi Tempura sushi & duck pancakes were 10/10

Great place, however the staff took 20 min to serve our drinks but they gave us free drinks for the troubles, we where a group of 3 people and only one of us was drinking alcohol so it only benefitted him, i asked for water one time and it came 15 min later, when it came to paying for everything at first we got the bill for a wrong table which was much higher, second bill came it was for the right table and we paid, however when we arrived at the hotel we noticed that we had been charged for on dish we did not order.. so the service probably the worst i have ever had..

I love Yamamori and this was our first time with Izakaya. The staff were very happy to push out our reservation by 30 mins but the place was half full. The food was quite nice and the staff were happy to accomodate my girlfriends allergies but unfortunately 33% of our meal was forgotten by the waitress (1 out of the 3 dishes ordered). We were then told that the kitchen was closed so we left still hungry, which isn't an ideal experience at a restaurant. We asked if there was something they could so for us out of a courtesy but were told a flat "no", which was grand. Sadly, we won't go back and will try one of the other Japas/Sushi places nearby because we want to ensure we actually get what we ordered.

Excellent experience! Food was great, cocktails delightful, and ambience perfect. Service was attentive and therefore wasn’t too unhappy to pay the 12.5% service charge for a table of 3. Would recommend!

The food was good and varied but expensive.A service charge was included in the bill which is very unusual for smaller groups.

When it comes to the prices, these reflect quality of the produce we use as well as cost of business in a prime city centre location. As for service charge different restaurants adopt different policies. We do apply service charge to groups of 3 and more which we state on our menu. We sincerely hope you will visit us in the future.
