Yangban, the genre-defying Korean American culinary ‘conversation’, which opened in Los Angeles’ Arts District, re-opens after a transformative interior overhaul of the space, revealing an evolution of the highly acclaimed restaurant. Now featuring a full-service dining room and updated food and beverage programs, the concept remains at its core a Modern-Korean American restaurant as told through the lens of husband-and-wife chefs Katianna and John Hong.
Recent awards include: Bon Appetit's 10 Best New Restaurants, Esquire's Best New Restaurants in America + Chefs of the Year, David Chang's Restaurant of the Year, Condé Nast Traveler's Best New Restaurants in the World and recognition from the James Beard Foundation and Michelin.

If you do not see availability, we keep a significant portion of the restaurant for walk-ins.

In order for us to best accommodate large parties, all parties of 7 or more guests receive a pre-set menu. It is an exciting mix of individually served and family style dishes. The experience will start with bites and appetizers, followed by banchan and main dishes, finishing with dessert. Substitutions are politely declined, but we can accommodate all serious allergies. Kindly list all serious allergies or dietary restrictions in your reservation notes when booking your party. Should your party decrease in size, we will charge according to the number of guests the reservation made unless we are contacted with at least 24 hours' notice.

I had dinner with two other people and we did the prix-fixe menu, which meant six courses (more?) served family style. Highlights were the scallop hand roll, the green salad, tteok, and of course the chicken wings (totally worth the hype!). We were pretty indifferent about the banchan, though nobody particularly liked the avocado and pear. Sea bream was good, not great. Steak was good but fatty, and not the melt-in-your-mouth kind of fat that you want to eat; this was chew-on-it-and-spit-it-out fatty. Dessert was chef’s choice, and we were brought everything but the sundae (and the sundae was what we all had read about!). All good, but nothing that will stick in my memory. I’d go back for the chicken wings, tteok, and green salad, which would make for a perfectly good dinner for one (or two, if you added another dish or two).

Food and service were wonderful. The wings, fish (the skin was perfect!), and banchan were the highlights for sure. One of my favorite service touches was the provided purse hook. The only criticisms I have are that the Jeju sencha tea had no flavor (I kept on commenting that it tasted like butter because the only flavor that came through was the chestnut instead of cha), and the lighting was much too low (l get ambience, which is fine and appreciated, but it was almost just a pitch black dark room in there and it made seeing the menu a challenge).

It was a good dining experience. Everything was good. Three dishes stood out for us: the fried chicken wings were flavorful and addicting, albeit a little pricey. The seabream was cooked perfectly and the sauce was complex and tasty. The matzah soup mandu was warming and tasted like concentrated chicken soup (in a good way). We ordered two desserts, the fudge and the cheesecake, both left us wanting more. Service was good with some room for improvement.

Super wonderful meal as per usual. The wings…. WOOOOOO. The tteok with the crab added in. Fireeeeeee. Literally always so amazing.

SUPER IMPRESSED!!! Can’t wait to be back! The food were amazing. Our server were great as well. I believe his name is Michael. The service provided elevated our experience tonight. To the point I had to write this glowing review right away. We did the pre fixed menu. Out of everything the Tteok & Grilled King’s Cut Short Rib were the highlight of our dinner. We would come back just for those two items. Thank you for a great night!!!

The flavors were all so interesting and delicious and our server was exceptional. I had been here before they changed the layout and at the time didn’t think they lived up to their full potential. I can honestly say that they have arrived!

Staff and service were incredible as was the food! Standouts were the wings and the tteok. Atmosphere was vibey and cozy will definitely be back.

The food is absolutely outstanding. My only suggestion would be to slow down the service by 20%. There are to many flavors to enjoy to be rushed.

Without doubt the best meal we’ve had this year. The chicken was outstanding but try the crab appetizer and the beef tartare roll. They were ridiculous. And the mushroom dish in the creamy sauce, I would come back just for that! Cocktails were so good too. Amazing dining experience.

This is my 3rd time dining here and it always exceeds expectations. The food is amazing and we love Thai, our server, who is a wonderful gracious host and so attentive and kind and fun. Thank you to all the other staff. They’re the bomb.
