Yono's, a two time Top 100 restaurants winner, has been Albany's premiere World Class restaurant for almost years. Owned and operated by second generation renowned restaurateur, Dominick Purnomo, the intimate, elegant split level dining room is has recently gone through a renovation modernizing the dining room now elegantly appointed with neutral colors, bronzed mirrors, a large fireplace, crystal chandelier, and floral displays. An innovative menu of blending French Technique, Asian Influence & American Ingredients pays homage to the rich culinary history of founding Chef Yono Purnomo. Managing partner & sommelier Josh Turo offers a wine list with some 1000 labels representing every major wine growing region in the world.                                                   Yono’s is a fantastic restaurant for fine dining and great wine pairing. This evening was a business dinner. I have also enjoyed romantic dinners there with my wife and had wonderful evenings there with family and friends. The food is consistently good. The service is welcoming and accommodating.

                                                  We happened to encounter this restaurant en route from southwest Connecticut to Buffalo, and we are so happy to find this gem! This restaurant truly meets the criteria of "excellent cooking that is worth a detour". If you are looking for a carefully crafted, delicately balanced tasting menu with a South East Asian flair, you can find it at Yono! The chef pays special attention to your dietary restrictions and adjust the tasting menu accordingly. Their food truly encapsulates the beautiful medley of land and sea, paired with excellent hospitality.

                                                  Parking was not easy on the night we went. There was a grand piano but it was not being played that night. The wait staff was outstanding! We did the 8 course and wine pairing. Everyone was knowledgeable and explained each dish and paired wine. I definitely ate outside of my comfort zone. There was only one thing I really did not like and didn’t finish. There was one I could have done without but I didn’t waist it. The rest were all very good in my opinion. There were at least 2 that I thought I wouldn’t like but surprisingly were very good. I liked 6 of the 8 wines and there were 2 or 3 that I will be looking for. (Hopefully I can afford them😂). I did not go away hungry but for about $525 for 2 😖. Add a 20% tip and wow. But it was my girlfriend’s birthday and she is worth every penny of it. If you are adventurous in you eating and have the deneros, it a cool experience.

                                                  Our server was distracted by a large table next to us. She was trying to engage with us, but the net result did not meet our expectations. By the time we ordered, they were out of a few items. We eat out often at comparable restaurants and this one did not measure up.

                                                  Very good elements but some subpar. Great menu, the octopus sauce was amazing and the purées ( heart of palm .. ) were also exceptional. But the Halibut was overcooked and the octopus on the chewy side. The scallop entrée was good. So, great dish compositions with lots of veggies, but the cook needs to learn cook fish properly.

                                                  I expected better food and service, but everything was below average. I will not be returning. The restaurant's interior is like a regular eatery, and I was surprised to see artificial flowers in such an expensive place – that's unacceptable. While the scallops were good, the octopus was overcooked and tough, and the pork belly appetizer was disappointing. The halibut was very dry. Although the plate with beef short ribs was huge – at least my brother was excited. The presentation and silverware were very simple. I cannot recommend this place .
