Young Joni is James Beard award-winning chef Ann Kim's restaurant located in the Arts District of Northeast Minneapolis. The menu is inspired by wood fire cooking and features an array of globally influenced dishes and signature pizzas. Dining Room reservations are offered for dinner and weekend brunch; walk-ins are available at our bar and community table.

Young Joni is the recipient of 2019's James Beard Award for "Best Chef Midwest"; it has been featured in the New York Times and Vogue, and on Netflix's "Chef's Table: Pizza."

Tucked discreetly behind Young Joni is the back bar, serving full and no-proof craft cocktails and pizzas in a warm, analog setting. Esquire named it one of 2019's Best Bars in America and Eater called it an "Essential Minneapolis Bar." Walk down the alley alongside Young Joni and look for the red light; when the light is on, the back bar is open!

Like at her other two restaurants, the Chef's Table star leans on her Korean heritage in must-order dishes like the umami mama pizza with three kinds of mushrooms and chewy rice cakes with a four-cheese sauce and gochugaru. Pair it with cocktails that incorporate a lot of Asian ingredients—there's even a formidable spirit-free section on the menu—and get comfortable in the spacious wood-clad interior that includes front-row seats to the pizza-making action.

    EVERYTHING was fabulous! Benjamin was the best waiter that I have ever had. His enthusiastic descriptions of the menu items made us want to try everything. We will be back!

    Young Joni never disappoints. We celebrated Easter lunch here, six of us ordering different items. The chicory Caesar salad is always my favorite. Pizzas, burger, and Korean chicken sandwich were all outstanding. In addition to the usual drinks, we ordered some of the NA cocktails which were unusual and delicious. We had a terrific server, Birch, who was quietly solicitous. A perfect place to have a casual celebration.

    I must say, Ann Kim‘s food is absolutely among the e best in Twin Cities. always consistent. Great flavors great textures unbelievably great pizza. We need more places like this in the outskirts of Minneapolis

    The atmosphere is great and the pizza was terrific. Birch (spelling?), our server, was simply wonderful. When I mentioned that my drink was heavy on one ingredient, he immediately asked if I wanted to try something else and brought me a new drink at no additional cost. The new drink, Jackalope, was very yummy. We’ll be back!
