With elegant premises situated above street level at the corner of Pennington Street and Jardine’s Bazaar in the East Point neighbourhood of Causeway Bay, Shalimar Indian Cuisine offers a high-class South Asian restaurant experience. Make a meal from great shareable starters like the tandoori mixed grill, chow down on chicken biryani, and mop up the creamy, nutty sauced of a navratan korma with plenty of freshly oven-baked garlic naan. The focus here is on traditional, imperial Mughlai cuisine, an ancient art with origins in the court kitchens of northern India, and a tandoor oven that uses charcoal for the ultimate in smoky flavour. Get stuck into this Hong Kong Indian restaurant’s offering without risking the bank by opting for one of the set lunch and dinner menus or explore the a la carte menu – its huge size means that you’re unlikely to get to the bottom of it.
