Welcome to Alkemē where dining is a unique culture-to-table experience. We are honored to be a 2024 James Beard Award Best New Restaurant Semifinalist!

Our food menu is Vietnamese heritage cuisine reimagined. Chef-Owner Hue-Chan Karels and Executive Chef Erica Tai are reinterpreting heirloom recipes from their culinary roots to create dishes that are innovative yet steeped in tradition and culture. We offer 3 tasting menus, a seasonal a la carte menu, dim sum brunch on Saturdays, and a full-liquor beverage menu with creative cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks.

Our patio is open from Spring through Fall. Our indoor dining space has 3 dining rooms & a bar:
> Main Dining Room is vibrant and modern
> Dawn Dining Room is warm and inviting and can seat large parties from 6 to 14
> Indochine Room (aka "The Red Room") exudes passion and intimacy

    Had yet another amazing meal at Alkemē at Open Kitchen this evening. I had the meat forward tasting menu and Gordon had the fish forward tasting menu. The braised short rib and tumeric cod were stand out delicious. Each dish seemed to be better than the last. Finished it off with a Vietnamese coffee flan! OMG, I think I died and went to heaven. Shout out to our server, Krista, who is one of the best in Santa Fe and of course Hue-Chan was so gracious. An absolutely perfect evening.

    Creative, delicious choices, beautifully presented. It may be the best restaurant in Santa Fe. I live here and eat out frequently-both high end and reasonable cuisines - so I have a very good sense for what's available in town

    We took my mom here for her 75th and everyone was just so kind and delightful. The food was absolutely incredible and it didn’t feel stuffy or pretentious. Can’t wait to visit again when we are in town again. Thank you for a lovely experience!

    We had an extraordinary experience sitting at a beautiful table in a stunning room designed in red and black, that created a very passionate vibe. Service, food, experience was just over the top. What an exciting place to spend time in.. Hue Chen has curated something very special, with Chef Erica as one of her many secret weapons.LOVE.

    My husband and I each had a different tasting menu as part of restaurant week. The pacing of service was perfect with just the right amount of attention. We enjoyed the quiet music that was playing. The food was quite good but not perfect. There were 5 courses and several of the courses were similar to each other. My husband got the fish menu and had two courses with dill aioli. I had two courses with meat and noodles. My husband said everything was good but not quite wow. Overall we thought this was a nice meal.

    I had the vegan tasting menu. Although everything tasted great, I’m not certain this met all my nutritional needs: a reasonable amount of protein, low levels of saturated fat and more. (I’m on the Ornish lifestyle.) I’ll find out before my next visit.

    Another fantastic dining experience at Alkeme. We took advantage of the restaurant week special tasting menu and it did not disappoint. Everything was delicious and the service was impeccable. IMHO it is the best restaurant in town. Highly recommended!

    Our dinner at Alkemē was wonderful in every way. Beautiful ambience, delicious food that is unique and a multilayered experience of amazing tastes and unexpected combinations of different herbs and spices expertly prepared. The service was impeccable, gracious and warm from the hostess Lizette to our excellent waiter Crystof and busser Vanity. The owner Chef Hue-Chan Karels was welcoming and lovely and made sure that our culinary experience was excellent and memorable. Their excellent mixologist created a great selection of drinks that were delicious as well as unexpected and surprising in their interesting combination of liqueurs and tastes. We were celebrating my birthday, and Alkemē made it very special and celebratory. Kudos to Chef Hue-Chan Karels, Chef Erica Tai and their excellent team. It truly was a night to remember.
