Roots mission is to create delicious food from fresh, local ingredients. Vermont offers an agricultural bounty of flavorful produce, meat, dairy and other food products that are staples of the Roots menu.

Roots is committed to providing affordable meals from minimally processed, locally grown ingredients, including organic crops and humanely raised, pasture fed livestock.

We are proud to partner with local providers Boardman Hill Farm, Hathaway Farm, Woods Market, Blue Ledge Farm, and other smaller scale produce, dairy and maple syrup providers.

Visit us at 55 Washington Street in downtown Rutland and enjoy a delicious, wholesome local meal.

Would have given more stars but my major pet peeve at any restaurant is the martini glass. Roots has decided that a coup is better. Unfortunately for me and James Bond this is a sacrilege in my book. No problem as I will in the future bring my own. My favorite is the Brussel Sprouts. They are fantastic. The staff is great.

My girlfriend and I dined on a rainy Wednesday evening, the restaurant was just about empty thus the only reason for the 4-star rating on ambiance. It was sort of nice to have the place to our own!! Service was excellent, (thanks Angela), and the food was fantastic. App, two drinks, two dinners and tip under $120. Definitely would dine here again, especially next time we are doing something at the Paramount, which is just around the block. Well decorated, awesome background music for dinner. Could not have been happier as a first-time customer. We will be bcak!

The food was excellent! It was carefully prepared and the flavors were wonderful! We each got something different and enjoyed it all plus sharing the Brussels sprouts app. Delish! The OpenTable app, however, hadn't notified them that we requested banquette seating, but that was quickly remedied and was our only disappointment. Other than that, we will return time and time again to ROOTS!
