Located on the ground floor, our restaurant Sun, Surf & Sand - also known as S3 - centers on coastal cuisine and a unique sharable concept. We offer the closest dining spot to the ocean anywhere along Fort Lauderdale Beach.     Jackie with the “crab earrings “ was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and very nice, but we ended moving to the main dining area instead of the high tops. Franco was our server and he was equally knowledgeable and did a very good job, very thorough. Tim really stood out to me who delivered the food. He was very nice, polite and very professional. You can tell he took pride in what he was doing and gets the “customer experience.” The “team” all together with the ambiance made a nice evening! Food came out super fast too!

    Absolutely fabulous restaurant. This was our first time visiting. Celebrating our anniversary. Our waitresses name I believe was Jackie and she was the best! We ordered the Korean chicken for an appetizer, New York strip for dinner, dragon roll for sushi, and ended with a coconut cake! The cake was so big, we couldn’t finish it. Everything we ordered was top-notch. Staff was friendly, location was clean and precisely located. Parking was a breeze.

    CHECK THE MENU BEFORE YOU RE-VISIT My friends and I have been coming down to Ft Lauderdale beach for years and S3 WAS always one of our favorite stops. We would have lunch here a few times during our visit and usually dinner once. However, this restaurant has drastically changed. I wish we would have known they completely changed the concept to focus mainly on Japanese and Sushi and minimized almost all other menu items. The evening specials were oysters and a $125 sushi platter. The server will spend 3 minutes explaining all of the sushi options and then remark that “there are some steaks and sides on the other side of the menu.” Menu standards that we enjoyed - Mahi Mahi fish sandwich, chicken dishes, even a burger have all been removed from the menu (for dinner). The new dinner menu consists of mostly sushi with a few other “mains” on the menu of 4 steak items, and a few other non-sushi seafood items. I got the feeling they are trying to complete with the Japanese restaurant in the Conrad and the new Truluck’s up the street. They even go so far as to bring out oshibori before you start your meal. We were all thinking - this is still the restaurant in the HILTON, right? We ended up ordering a large variety of starters - some of which seemed to be entree size (like the Buratta) and all the food was presented VERY nicely, and it was fine, but nothing was a WOW. It was a lot of pretense and show for a new menu that was severely lacking in variety. We had a vegetarian in the group as well as someone who doesn’t eat any seafood so this revameped menu was not great for them. If this brand is sticking to this concept I recommend they officially change the concept to S1 - We are a Japanese fusion sushi restaurant. The location is still wonderful and the new menu is a downgrade unless you wanted a sushi restaurant. Food was fine but we definitely won’t be returning. You may love it but at least check the menu before you book so you know what you are in for.
