Made reservations a day ahead and was still asked to wait 10-15 min because they had a large walk in party arrive a few minutes before us. Normally this wouldn’t annoy me but I made a note that we were celebrating an anniversary and we still had to wait 15min for a table for 2. Oh the other hand, our server Julia, was great and made it a point to celebrate our anniversary. Our server and the food was fantastic. I’m only giving this 4 stars because we had to wait 15min to be seated despite having a reservation.

I was not impressed with SaltRock Kitchen, especially given all the hype on social media. They forgot to bring out two items, but then were very apologetic and took those off our bill. However, we asked for birthday dessert (told the hostess at the time of seating) and they did not do anything special for that…even a candle would’ve made the birthday girl feel special. Overall, the communication between staff was not good and the food was average.

We come it for the patio with a view bur will return for fabulous cocktails and appetizers. Ty our server was a wealth of knowledge when selecting drinks. My Hibiscus margaritas was lovely with a hint of spice at the finish and it paired well with creamiest, flavorful Guacamole making for a lovely break in our day. Troy loved the elote on chicheronnes and the bartenders choice cocktail.

A lively place with great cocktails, spectacular views, excellent food and wonderful service. From the time we were greeted until we left, everything was spot on. I had the Sun Devil Margarita. It had just the right amount of heat and was not overly sweet. Perfectly balanced. I ordered the sea bass Veracruz. The fish was perfectly cooked, but a few bones were missed when it was filleted. The accompanying sauce was deliciously savory. The hint of squid ink vinaigrette elevated the flavor to the next level. My husband had the rib eye tacos and said they were great with especially good tortillas. Devin kept our water glasses full and plates cleared. Makayla gave prompt and attentive service with a smile. There is a great patio for outside dining on warmer days.

We are locals and were wanting to try a different place for dinner. We won't be back to Saltrock. The service was pretty spotty, but the food was just not very good. We had the Tempura and Elote starter, and that was like something we could have gotten at the Iowa State Fair-- deep fried bread with corn in it, basically a large corn fritter. Not much flavor to it at all. Sent that back. Our second appetizer was the Pork Cheeks, and we can't really comment on it because the waiter forgot about it and then brought it out cold from the kitchen. Sent that back too. I had the Black Cod Tacos, and I liked the tortilla but the taco would probably be better labeled as a Radish Taco. There were so many radish slices on the plate that the fish was completely overwhelmed. Sent that back too. Our other main dish was the Scallops and Pork Belly, and that was okay. The scallops were cooked nicely and they went well with the grilled greens. But the Pork Belly was tough and chewy. In general our waiter seemed very distracted and we had to ask another waiter about our missing starter before our own waiter realized we were still in the restaurant. At one point the hostess was setting up some tables for a group. Another opened the door to go outside and it got stuck open, but the hostess didn't bother shutting this wide open door that right next to her (and next to us) until we called out to her. It was nighttime in January in the high desert, and it was getting quite cold. Rather than apologize, she gave us a comment about trying to do her job for other customers and that we should just deal with it. Not very welcoming response, but then she eventually closed the door.

I love the Amara and have enjoyed staying there in the past and eating at Salt Rock. This anniversary trip to Sedona we stayed elsewhere and had dinner for our anniversary there, which we indicated on our reservation. My wife has sensory overwhelm at times so we asked about if we could check table outside with heaters (cold this time of year) and one inside to see noise levels. The hostess was fairly rude about it, gave us an eye roll, and treated us like we were being difficult, finally walking away. We were taken aback given our experience here in the past. Another professional nice hostess came up to check in and was great. Our server was good but quite busy and not personal. The food was excellent as always. No one mentioned our anniversary at check in or server which honestly seemed strange. Overall always love food here but was disappointed in the service of the hostess to be professional, welcoming and understanding of us asking to check out two tables given my wife’s sensory challenges. Felt below service expectations

Really attractive setting. Outside seating was beautiful. Waitstaff very kind and attentive. Food selection was very good. The salads were amazing. My husband and I ordered ribeye street tacos and the meat while tasty was very dried-out and overcooked. Prices ended up higher than we expected especially for the drinks. We will go back and try the salad with added protein. Other couple we were with did this and loved their meal.

We had a very pleasant surprise dining here last night. We remembered the food being good, but this time it was excellent! From the savory Birria Short Rib entree to the $8 kids cheeseburger that could have easily been on the adult menu for triple the price & the BEST churros I have ever tasted everything was so delicious! We were lucky to be seated at Alejandro’s table & he made sure the expect matched the food! Even making a special trip to locate a rare Red Sancerre from their cellar. Definitely recommend a reservation & a meal here!
