Sparks Steak House was opened in 1966 by Michael and Pasquale Cetta, hence the logo 'Cetta Brothers Steak Masters'. The restaurant is still a family owned and operated business and is located in midtown Manhattan, a five minute walk from Grand Central Station and The United Nations. Join us to celebrate 50 years of business!

The restaurant is well known for excellent steaks, seafood, fresh vegetables and satisfying salads.
And of course, the huge wine list.

They say is by the door and it was cold. My steak was not cooked properly and everyone else finished eating before they brought mine back out. To much cheese on it.

I was disappointed with my visit. My reservation was at a very busy time, but the staff was not capable of keeping up. It took several trips to get the wine list with half bottles, because Sparks has three different wine lists and they don’t bring them all to the table. The crab cocktail and oysters were good. The fillet mignon was good. The lobster tails and broiled shrimp came out colder than desirable as though they had waited in the kitchen for a while. The whole affair took over three hours, with long gaps in service between. The servers were working hard, but it wasn’t enough.

Henry Ford said about the Model T "You can have any color you want as long as it's black." At Sparks, you can have any dish you want as long as it's steak, oh, and fish, no pasta, like some other steak houses offer or even chopped steak. This isn't a bad thing. Sparks is an old school, beef lovers cathedral. The drink pour is steak portion large. The desserts too. It can get a bit loud, but, hey, it's a steak place. Plus, you'll be able to eat there, which is something Paul Castellano never got to do.

When we arrived, host said someone took our table - like used our name to take the reservation. Not sure if this was a person just responding yea your name - mind you we are six people, so seems unlikely. I’m thinking they were just overbooked. Sirloin- their signature dish, is just what you would expect from sirloin: not tender, little flavor. Why don’t they have other cuts of meat like ribeye or ny strip like other steakhouses? I saw some people order the filet, which looked like a burger at my local dive bar. Sorry for the bad review, sparks, but you need to do better.

The stake came to us pretty warm it should have been sizzling!! It was tasty but looked dry and wasn’t hot including the side dishes.

I have. Been a devoted fan of Sparks for 35 years. I have never had a bad experience until tonight. I brought friends who I raved to about the food….and it was truly AWFUL. I cannot begin to say how bad the food and the service were. I may never go back
