Sycamore is a seasonally inspired, chef-owned neighborhood bistro in Newton Centre. Emphasizing locally sourced produce, fish and meat, our menu draws on classic European country food; rustic and wholesome. Our beverage program is designed to complement the cuisine. The wine list focuses on passionate small producers, our beers are by and large domestic craft selections and the cocktail list highlights classic drinks and sipping spirits.

There is metered parking along Beacon Street and 1-2 hour parking on nearby side streets. There is also a public lot between Beacon Street and Langley Road. Most meters in the area shut off at 6:00pm.<br /><br />The private lots behind the restaurant and adjacent buildings are not Sycamore's and cars may be towed from these lots.
Public transit
We are located across the street from the Newton Centre Green Line T Stop. When you exit the station, turn right on to Union Street. Beacon Street and Sycamore Restaurant can be seen directly across from the park.

Since I am a regular patron, I am going to give myself leeway to offer a very specific critique of last night's dinner. First, although I did not partake of it, I understand that the duck board was fantastic as was the kale and farro salad (always a favorite). And I should also note that Kate's service was above and beyond--as always! When you first offered the beet salad, there was thin layer of whipped goat cheese on the bottom of the dish and probably a 1/4 cup of the granola topping. Last night, there were a couple of dollops of the goat cheese on top of the beets and maybe a tablespoon of the granola topping. The deliciousness and success of the dish depends upon the proportion of the different flavors and textures. The proportions are not right now and the dish is not as impressive as it was on the first tasting. On Feb 4, I had a swordfish entree that was excellent. The sauce was delicious and did not overwhelm the fish. It was a great pairing. Last night, there was an overabundance of the bean sauce and it completely overwhelmed the flavor of the swordfish. I'm sorry to be negative but I know how much the staff cares about the quality of the food and the satisfaction of the guests. I also know that your kitchen staff is excellent and that these "mistakes" (for lack of a better word) are just blips on the radar screen. Overall, the consistently excellent quality of the food is the reason we keep coming back! Thank you!

Fantastic food, fantanstic drinks. There are not that many fine food restaurants in Newton, Sycamore is the rare example of the one holding the high quality mark. Enjoyed it a lot.

We had reservations for the restaurant, but ended up sitting at the bar. Great bartenders and staff! We really enjoyed the experience and the food was delicious!

Terrible service! We had a reservation, there was an empty table and they wouldn't seat us. They made us wait for 20 minutes while the table sat empty the whole time and then they sat us at the bar next to the door. Clearly, they were holding the table for someone they thought was "more important." We would have been fine waiting if they were just running behind but we were treated like second class citizens. Nobody should be treated like that. Not to mention,this was my last solid food meal for two weeks because Im having surgery and they completely ruined our night. I actually picked the restaurant for my last meal because we have been many times and liked it but now we have a very different opinion of this place and how they treat people they don't know.

Sycamore is the rare neighborhood dining gem that’s overseen carefully by its attentive proprietor, Dave. He is seen personally visiting each table to make sure his guests are happy, and even though as out-of-towners we had been there only once many months ago he remembered details about us. Our server Chris was also excellent and the inventive farm-to-table food is delicious and healthfully prepared. It’s a must go dinner spot if you are anywhere near the Newton, MA area.

Amazing experience! Staff is welcoming and so helpful!! The menu is constantly changing and every dish you get has the best flavor combinations!! The restaurant itself is relaxing and comforting!! A MUST visit!!!
