TAVERNA is nestled in Saskatoon's historic downtown core within walking distance of a number of major hotels in the renowned entertainment district. The building was originally the grocery section of the J.F. Cairns Department Store dating back to 1907. Taverna still maintains a historical charm and character, serving delicious, exceptionally well-prepared Italian American food since 1969. Simultaneously comfortable yet aspirational.

We believe that keeping the food fresh, simple and whole is the secret to a successful dish. Italian food doesn't have to be complicated or elaborate to be spectacular.

We really looked forward to a special night out and were grateful to be reseated when we couldn't fit well into a crowded corner reserved for us. We expected to pay more yet when our main dishes arrived they were bland looking and the dish was variations of beige. It was not appetizing to look at and I needed a new knife as my salad needed to be cut up so I could get it in my mouth. Although the portions appeared small, we did not rate this experience any poorer as we with comfortably full upon leaving. Please note the pepper was amazingly strong and I needed to go to the bar to get my water glass refilled. Very disappointing experience sadly.

The food good but they packed everyone in there like sardines felt like I was sitting on the next tables lap. It made it uncomfortable. Didn't stay long just ate and left.

The Spaghetti Alla Procida is delicious. Octopus was tender and there was just enough luck in the dish. Not too heavy. Two others in our party had the carbonara which was authentically made, not runny, full of flavour. We had multiple appetizers, but most favourite were the scallops. Definitely a guaranteed stop for us when we visit Saskatoon.

Date night at Taverna - truly incredible experience. I had never been and my boyfriend hadn't been in years. It was amazing - the food was so delicious and the service was phenomenal!

Food came out super fast but wasn’t hot so sent it back to be reheated. We appreciated they discounted the dinner for this reason.

Had an exceptional experience at Taverna last night for a birthday. The atmosphere had great energy. Comfortable with a good volume that you could still visit. Extremely knowledgable and thoughtful server. It was clear she had pride in the food, including all the work done by the kitchen. Great attitude and guidance for both cocktails and food. The food (steak, pastas, vegetables) was perfectly cooked, hot and delicious. Had not been to Taverna in years, but now seeing it as a top 3 food destination in the city. A real gem that is back in the spotlight for our family. Thank you Taverna for an unforgettable evening!
