Serving contemporary French food, this much-loved independent restaurant has been going strong for over 22 years.
Before booking, please note the restaurant has both downstairs and upstairs.
The same menu options are available on both floors. There is no lift upstairs.
Re Tasting Menu Timings: At lunch you must book before 1.45pm, and at dinner before 8.45pm. Tasting menus are not available outside of these times.
If you cannot find a table, please contact the restaurant team direct as not all tables are available to book online. Please contact the restaurant with any private dining enquiries or group bookings 7+
Credit card details required. No shows or cancellations less than 2 days in advance will be subject to a charge of £25 per person.
KINDLY NOTE: We cannot guarantee a request for a specific table will be met. We will always do our best but please be understanding if it is not possible. Please call the restaurant team to discuss your request.

5-course Dinner Tasting Menu, £75 (+£45 Wine Pairing)

First Course

  • Whipped cods’ roe

    with smoked mackerel, compressed cucumber, white beetroot, granny smith apple, campaillou crispbreads

    Second Course

    • ‘Oeuf Cocotte’

      baked St Ewe egg with parmesan bechamel, morteau sausage, brioche croutons and Madeira sauce

      Third Course

      • Cornish monkfish roasted in yellow pepper butter

        with Camargue rice, baby courgette, smoked yoghurt, blood orange caramel and chermoula paste

        Fourth Course

        • English Wagyu beef bavette

          with caramelised kohl rabi, grilled hen of the woods mushroom, cured beef fillet, red wine sauce

          Fifth Course

          • Chocolate moelleux

            with hazelnut cream, poached pear, Gianduja ice-cream

              We had such a wonderful evening at The French Table. The food was great, especially the desserts. All courses were well presented and not overly fussy. Huge credit also to the staff, who helped to make the evening even more special. From the communication a few days before the meal, to the staff in the evening, they all enhanced our experience. Big thanks to Zoe and Christophe especially.

              Wonderful meal. The food was excellent, service outstanding - knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, efficient. Lovely ambience, we did have a very noisy table near us, although I have to say the tables were well spaced, they were just extremely noisy. Would recommend highly, it’s not cheap but you do get value for your money so worth well it and we will be back!

              We hadn’t been to this fantastic local French restaurant for a while and we weren’t disappointed. The food was as good , if not better than our last visit, and the staff were on the ball. Can’t wait to get back.
