    Much improved on the service front since my visit before Christmas. Food was good. Our table for 2 was super small and the plates and glasses hardly fitted on! My only complaint

    I always love dining at The Ivy as it’s usually exemplary service and good food for a fair price. This is my third time visiting The Ivy Market Grill and I’m always slightly disappointed- mainly with the service. Our main waiter was fantastic and very prompt as was the gentleman host at the door. Our main waiter had kindly let us know he was taking his break and directed us to whom would be taking over from him and I heard him breakdown what stage each of the tables were at to the other waiter before he’d left. He gave us a dessert menu but no one had checked on us after that apart from maybe 10 mins later to clear the table. Unfortunately, even though we’d booked in advance, we had 2 parties who’d just walked in after us get seated before us as we were waiting to be taken to our seats. Space is at a premium (I know this isn’t the fault of the restaurant) and it makes the experience a little uncomfortable especially with children in tow. We may have had a slightly better experience dining alfresco as there’s more space outside. For a restaurant in the heart of London that’s so busy, the service should simply be better.

    Chose here for our pre theatre lunch treat with friends, having been here in the past. We originally wanted to choose the special Ivy menu but were disappointed to find out we had to pay extra for sides, so opted for the main menu instead. Whilst the food was nice, our waitress seemed disengaged with us throughout our time there, which was a shame. We were seated in a bit of thoughfare, which was understandable being lunchtime, so we just got on with it and left as soon as we finished. It was interesting to see how the restaurant has changed over time.

    Really tasty, well presented food. Service great and very prompt, although they forgot to bring one drink when ordered. Great vibe, really clean. Fabulous before the theatre

    This was my third time returning to The Ivy in Covent Garden for a post-concert meal (usually 9pm arrival time), but it wasn't exactly the charm for me. On two past visits about two years apart, I sat in the front dining room, near the bar, and found the atmosphere fairly calm even if busy. On this occasion, I was seated in the back dining room, and the atmosphere was more lively with the sound level accordingly higher. I was quite tired and skipped a starter; very grateful the bottle of house lager was cold, served promptly with an iced mug. I again ordered the restaurant's famed shepherd's pie, which arrived almost instantaneously with the side order of sprouting broccoli. To me, the pie seemed uninspired. If any veg (carrots? swede? anyone?) had joined the minced meats, it was no longer evident, but perhaps I misremember the presence of veggie enrichment. It wasn't wanting for salt, however. The sprouting broc' was another matter. It was bright green, with a tang of lemon (and again, too much salt), but after sawing away diligently for a minute or two, I had to wave down my charming server for a steak knife to be able to cut the stems. I suspect I've had my run of Ivy Market Grill dinners, and will now look to new restaurants in CG/Seven Dials for my next post-concert treat out.
