Fresh, light, modern, and sophisticated are words that describe both The Light House restaurant in the south London suburb of Wimbledon and its meltingly good Italian fusion cuisine. The dining room is pleasingly modern and spacious, all pale walls with striking artworks, blond floors and furniture, and there is a lovely patio for lingering on and on. The Light House menu changes every day to make best use of the freshest seasonal ingredients and each dish is an adventure. Try perroche bruschetta with piquillo peppers, caperberries, babaganoush and Greek olives to start, perhaps followed by pan-fried sea bass on wild garlic leaves, courgettes, ratte potatoes and romesco sauce. Black pepper cheesecake with gooseberry compote is a winner, too. This was our first visit to the light house and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. The menu was interesting and varied and the food we chose was delicious.
The restaurant was almost full with a buzzy atmosphere but the service remained good with several people looking after us.
I had some reservations about booking as I had read beforehand the restaurant would be closing in February which is a great shame, but I needn’t have worried, you’d never have known.
Good luck for the future for everyone working there.

Sadly this long time staple - one of the few no -chain restaurants in Wimbledon - is closing for good on 16th February. If you know it then go one last time and if you don't then at least see it off in style by making sure it's last few days are as busy as possible.

This was what we thought was our final visit to this wonderful place and we were so sad that it is closing that we rebooked straightaway when we found we've got another month!

The Light House is always reliable but our last visit was exceptional. They have really upped their game - all 4 of us had different dishes at each course and all were superb. I can especially recommend the guinea fowl and a light but delicious apple and mince frangipane tart

I really don't know why people visit the Ivy, when The Light House exists. Great food with an interesting menu, good wine list, and good service.
