    I've been going to The Optimist for 10 years. While the food is consistently fresh and well seasoned, the recent menu changes have take away some of the favorites that keep me coming back; namely, the hushpuppies. The service is always great, and the oysters are fantastic. I miss the housemade crackers that came with the oysters and the crispy potatoes too. Still has some of the freshest seafood in Atlanta, and I'll go again, but not as often.

    "The oysters were amazing, the cod cheeks were delicious, and the dessert was absolutely fantastic. Our waitress was outstanding; she was amazing. However, the main dishes were really disappointing. The sea bass was cooked really well, but the sauce was overpowering, to the point where you could only taste a high concentration of citric acid. We ordered the side dish of rice and mushrooms, which were also overpoweringly citrusy."

    This is the second time I’ve been there. It was a fantastic meal, the service was excellent, and the restaurant is beautiful. My only complaint was that I made a reservation and we were seated in a corner with no light and one small candle on the table. We could hardly see our Menus. They brought us another small candle, which didn’t really help. The restaurant had plenty of seating with lights we just were not seated at one of those tables. I felt there were open tables as well. A little disappointed.
