The Plaza Palm Court is beautiful. Holiday decor adds to the magical feeling. I have enjoyed afternoon tea at the Plaza 4 times before this and am sorry to say it is far from what it has been in years past. While the same tiered trays are used to serve the cute little tea sandwiches, the elevated experience doesn’t feel as special or elegant as it did. $155 for a holiday tea was the only option unless we wanted more caviar. The Plaza tea blend was delicious- but no more loose leaf tea- it’s served already brewed. The dainty sugar cubes have been replaced with packets. And the servers no longer take the time to go through the sandwiches and desserts as they are delivered.
It’s still beautiful. The food was fine. But I’m now looking forward to visiting other tea places that have a much better value for what you pay.
