The Smith is a casual American brasserie with four upbeat locations in New York City: The Smith East Village, The Smith Midtown, The Smith Lincoln Square, and The Smith NoMad, as well as locations in DC and Chicago.     Had a reservation for 7pm for a large party. They called an excessive amount to confirm my reservation and despite this did not have my table ready for 30 minutes. The staff were not helpful and was a poor experience outside of good food.

    A very nice American bistro in the East Village. Good cocktail list and good bread. They bring both still and fizzy water for you automatically gratis. I had the Bar Steak; the steak was great including the green peppercorn sauce. The fries were cooked excellent but were slightly overstated in spots. The spinach was good for spinach 😀.

    This was the second time we've been to The Smith in the East Village. It was great both times. Service is terrific, food is really good - consistently. The brussel sprouts are amazing! Great place for a cocktail and a bite before a concert.

    Always consistently great, we have been coming to this location, and others in the city, for many years. Food, service and ambience is up to par.

    The Smith delivered 2 of 8 orders cold. Because of the noise level, the waitress misunderstood one of the orders. Lastly, the cranberry kale salad had so few cranberry’s and nuts, that it was like only eating kale

    Service was exceptional, sweet and accommodating for brunch. We reserved ahead with a note we had a guest with a hearing aid and they sat us in a corner to mitigate the noise of brunch. Definitely reserve ahead!

    We always have a great meal at The Smith. The food is outstanding and the staff is great. However, we wish that something could be done to reduce the noise level, such as installing sound absorbing tiles or panels. When the restaurant is full, it is hard to hear what others at your table are saying.
