Went to the Smith after finishing up a really rough business meeting. We should up 20 minutes early for our reservation so had a drink at the bar. Only a very reasonable ten minute wait until our table was ready. Service was top notch with Logan taking good care of us. Three of us each had the NY strip - with each of us asking for different temperatures (rare, m-r, medium). All three came out perfectly. Two of us started with a Ceaser salad - can’t recommend it. Too many old core pieces and a dressing that was overly heavy on the garlic. Logan recommended a great bottle of red (Bordeaux) that paired well with the meal and we ended with drinks. The restaurant was pretty loud with subway tiles and no soft surfaces to absorb noise. The chairs were also a bit rickety and not comfortable. I’d recommend the restaurant invest in new chairs! Overall a good experience. In a city like NY, the Smith might want to up the game a bit, but still good value and mostly good food.

Overall, excellent, excellent experience. The Smith is an exquisite establishment and the midtown location is no exception. I’ve rated as highly as I could but the one bit of feedback that I’d like to provide is the following: 1. When my date and I arrived for our reservation, our table was not ready. A table was being cleared off, which tells me one wasn’t reserved. We waited no more than 3 minutes so it’s not a big deal, but if a reservation is in place, the restaurant should be waiting on us, not the other way around. 2. I mentioned when booking that the occasion was a birthday. My wife’s birthday to be precise. I don’t need or want anything free from the restaurant (though that’s always nice when that happens) but an acknowledgment of her birthday would’ve been welcome. Super super nitpicky and I really didn’t want to complain as our server was excellent and the food even better! The vibes were excellent too. But I figured I’d might as well provide the only two things that bugged me in the hopes that they see this feedback. Other than this, thank you again for a wonderful time!

Continue to be floored at how The Smith Midtown can host so many guests (always a full house on weekends!) at once, while maintaining the highest caliber of food quality (NEVER deviates and is always to perfection), exceptional service and an overall experience that I personally enjoy sharing not only with my family (very regularly) but with in-town and out-of-town friends/guests as well…
